(Dan Tri) - Vietnam calls on relevant parties to exercise restraint, not take actions that complicate the situation, and soon resume negotiations to resolve disagreements through peaceful means.
On October 8, the press asked the Foreign Ministry spokesperson to provide Vietnam's response to the escalating conflict between Hamas and Israel. In response, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that Vietnam is closely following and is deeply concerned about the escalating violence between Hamas and Israel, which has caused many civilian casualties. "We call on relevant parties to exercise restraint, not take actions that complicate the situation, and soon resume negotiations to resolve disagreements through peaceful means, on the basis of international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, ensuring the safety and legitimate interests of civilians," according to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

Earlier, early on October 7 (local time), Palestinian gunmen infiltrated southern Israel and thousands of rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip in a surprise attack by Hamas. The attack came after weeks of heightened tensions along Israel's volatile border with the Gaza Strip and after fierce fighting in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. CNN quoted an Israeli official as saying on October 8 that the death toll in Israel had risen to at least 300 after Saturday's surprise attack from Hamas. According to Israeli media, more than 1,500 others were injured in gun battles that broke out in more than 20 locations inside the Israeli-controlled area. This is considered the most intense attack on Israel in decades. In Gaza, health officials recorded more than 230 deaths and 1,600 injuries. According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel, so far, Vietnamese citizens, including the Vietnamese community in Israel, officials on business trips and Vietnamese tourists, are still safe.
