The Ministry of Transport has just announced a list of dredging projects for maritime waters and inland waterways combined with product recovery under the management of the Ministry of Transport.
Accordingly, there are 4 projects under the management of the Ministry of Transport, including: Dredging combined with product recovery on the national inland waterway of Tien River (from km 171+200 to km 172+500; from km 248+200 to km 249+600); Dredging combined with product recovery on the national inland waterway of Tien River (Cu Lao Tay branch) (From km 1+00 to km 2+00; from km 3+800 to km 4+300; from km 6+200 to km 7+800).

The People's Committees of An Giang and Dong Thap provinces are responsible for organizing the implementation of the responsibilities of the competent authority implementing the project according to the provisions of Decree No. 57/2024 of the Government on the management of dredging activities in seaport waters and inland waterway waters, and posting the list of projects on the Provincial People's Committee's Electronic Information Portal.
At the same time, direct the functional agencies and specialized agencies of the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration in implementing the provisions of the law on maritime and inland waterways with contents within the scope, responsibility and authority of the Departments.
Localities regularly inspect and supervise the project implementation process to ensure maritime safety, inland waterway traffic safety, security and order in the area, and prevent the project from being exploited for illegal sand mining. Strictly handle violations according to authority.
The provinces assign the specialized agencies of the City People's Committee to periodically and unexpectedly report to the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration on the progress and results of project implementation by field. Based on the provisions of Decree No. 57/2024 of the Government and the project implementation period, to advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to adjust the project list.
At the same time, closely and effectively coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and its agencies in organizing the implementation of the authority of the competent authority to implement the project as prescribed in the Decree.
In particular, consider prioritizing the use of products recovered from the project to serve important national projects, key to the current transportation industry.
Vietnam Maritime Administration and Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration are required to perform the functions and tasks of specialized state management agencies on maritime and inland waterways according to the provisions of the law on maritime and inland waterways, the provisions of Decree No. 57/2024 and relevant legal provisions.
The responsible agencies shall post the project list on the Department's Electronic Information page and proactively guide and support local professional agencies in the implementation of the projects.
In addition, organize the handover and acceptance of the waterway after completing the project, as well as provide opinions during the project implementation on relevant contents on maritime and inland waterways within the scope and authority as prescribed, or when requested by local agencies.
The Departments coordinate with specialized agencies of the Provincial People's Committees in inspecting, supervising and managing project construction, ensuring maritime safety and security, and inland waterway traffic safety. Absolutely do not take advantage of project implementation to illegally exploit sand, and strictly handle violations within their authority.
In addition, the two agencies are responsible for synthesizing reports on progress, status, and results of project implementation when necessary or requested, as well as synthesizing, reporting, and proposing to the Ministry of Transport to adjust the project list.
