According to the draft national technical regulations on Driver Training Centers, which are being consulted by the Ministry of Transport , driver training centers will have to install automatic test scoring equipment for classes B1, BE, CE, D1E, and DE before July 1, 2026. This is an important step forward in ensuring fairness and transparency in the process of testing and granting driver's licenses.

From July 1, 2026, automatic testing scoring equipment will be installed for some vehicle classes.

Specifically, the automatic scoring device will help eliminate the subjective factor of the examiner, minimize errors and ensure more accurate test results. This not only meets the requirements of the new Road Traffic Safety Law, effective from January 1, 2025, but is also suitable for the reality when the need to improve the quality of driver training and testing is increasing.

The draft Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety also proposes to reclassify driving license classes, adding classes C1 and D1. These are two new license classes for drivers of trucks, trailers, and passenger vehicles with up to 30 seats. This new regulation is not only in line with international standards, but also helps to make driving license management more stringent.

According to the 2008 Road Traffic Law, Class C driving licenses are issued to drivers of trucks and tractors with a load capacity of 3,500 kg or more, while Class D is for drivers of passenger vehicles with 10 to 30 seats. With the addition of new classes such as C1 and D1, the driving license system in Vietnam will become more diverse and suitable to actual needs.
