That was shared by Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, at the International Conference of the Southeast Asian University Quality Assurance Network (AUN-QA) held on December 11 at Ton Duc Thang University.

The AUN-QA 2024 Conference with 7 working sessions on topics of highereducation development, education in the digital age... is an opportunity for countries in the region to exchange experiences and share methods to improve the quality of education and training.
Mr. Huynh Van Chuong said that the network for ensuring and assessing the quality of Vietnamese education is quite strongly and specifically legalized, reflected in the current Law on Education and Law on Higher Education as well as in the Decrees.
The work of ensuring and assessing the quality of education is currently given top priority by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnamese higher education institutions with the goal of developing a system of ensuring and assessing the quality of higher education.
Thereby meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, meeting the ASEAN quality assurance framework, contributing significantly to promoting autonomy in higher education, improving the quality of higher education and pedagogical colleges.
According to Mr. Chuong, the Ministry of Education and Training does not provide money or personnel, but "gives" policies for universities to assess quality, bringing many benefits to the schools.
By the end of November 2024, Vietnam had 2,179 quality-accredited training programs, of which 1,558 programs were assessed according to domestic standards and 621 programs were assessed according to foreign standards.
There are 208 higher education institutions that have achieved quality accreditation, of which 196 have achieved domestic accreditation and 12 have achieved accreditation according to international standards. Some leading universities in accreditation are Ton Duc Thang University, Bach Khoa University...

Mr. Huynh Van Chuong emphasized that ensuring and assessing the quality of higher education is not only the responsibility of each country, but also a common concern of the entire international community, especially for the ASEAN region.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirms to ensure and inspect quality to create motivation for continuous improvement and enhance the quality of training facilities and programs towards meeting national and international standards.
The Ministry is also always committed and ready to support, care for and closely direct Vietnamese higher education institutions to continue to promote their strengths to develop, integrate and make many contributions to Vietnam, the ASEAN community and the world .
