Impression

At exactly 7:00 p.m. on April 22, the new soldiers of the 125th Infantry Regiment in Chi Linh City were present in full force at the unit’s yard to watch the documentary “A1-Mud, Blood and Flowers” produced by the Military Radio and Television Center (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army). Everyone was excited and moved to watch historical footage for the first time with their comrades and teammates.

The film “A1-Mud, Blood and Flowers” recreates the arduous sacrifices and heroic victories of our army and people in the A1 Hill battle - one of the fiercest battles of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign through the touching stories of historical witnesses. A1 Hill is considered the "throat", "the key to life" protecting the central sector of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold. Like the name of the film “A1-Mud, Blood and Flowers”, to attack this stronghold, for 39 days and nights, our army and people fought bravely, winning every inch of land, every meter of trench. The images of the feeders holding rice rations for the soldiers, the bicycle troop or the decisive battle with nearly 1,000 kg of explosives under A1 Hill... are all realistically recreated, touching the emotions of every officer and soldier watching.

The faces of the soldiers focused on the screen, attentively following the content of the film, and those expressions also changed according to each scene of the film. Joyful with the victory of our troops, sad with the losses and sacrifices... Soldier Do Minh Chien, Company 2, Battalion 2 emotionally shared: "I am impressed and admired by the stories and miracles that our ancestors left their mark in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Thanks to these valuable historical films, I understand more clearly about the heroic battle on Hill A1, the sacrifices of the previous generation, so that I have more motivation to strive, worthy of being a soldier of Uncle Ho's army".

The deep impression on the soldiers of the 125th Infantry Regiment is the story of historical witnesses about the fierceness of this war. In the film, Colonel Vu Dinh Hoe, Battalion Commander of Battalion 249, Regiment 174, Division 316, who directly fought on Hill A1, choked up and said: "At that time, I was not afraid at all, I just wanted to fight and win quickly to return to bury my brothers". Teacher Do Ca Son of Battalion 251, Regiment 174, Division 316 sadly said: "Burying is different from burying, burying is just putting down without anything to wrap around. My two hands buried nearly 100 brothers on this battlefield. Many other brothers have merged with the soil, flesh mixed with mud".

Film screenings on historical topics in units contribute to educating traditions for young officers and soldiers.

Major Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Political Commissar of Battalion 2, Regiment 125, said that the activity of showing soldiers historical films of Dien Bien Phu has profound political significance, towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. This is also an activity to encourage and motivate newly enlisted soldiers to study and train at the unit, helping each soldier better understand the traditions and history of the nation.

Every month, the Provincial Military Command organizes film screenings for officers and soldiers in units stationed in the area. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, this April, the Political Department (Provincial Military Command) organized film screenings on the historical theme of Dien Bien Phu at the 125th Infantry Regiment and the 214th Brigade. On the evening of April 23, agencies and units under the Provincial Military Command organized for officers and soldiers to watch the live television program "Dien Bien Phu - the mountain echoes, the river roars" produced by the Military Radio and Television Center.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Cang, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs (Provincial Military Command) said that watching movies on the big screen still has its own appeal. This activity in the units takes place in a concentrated, outdoor atmosphere in the evening, creating an exciting and vibrant atmosphere, creating resonance and having a greater influence, so the educational meaning of the movies shown is deeper.

Along with the meaning of honoring and expressing gratitude for the contributions and contributions of our army and people in the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the film screening activity contributes to educating and encouraging cadres and soldiers in the province about the tradition of patriotism and striving to complete their tasks well.
