Bich Tuyen takes on new responsibility at international volleyball tournament in China

Today (July 18), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team left for Shanghai (China) to participate in the Future Stars international friendly volleyball tournament. In this tournament, spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, who scored the most points at the 2024 World Challenge Volleyball Cup, contributing to bringing the Vietnamese women's volleyball team a historic bronze medal, was assigned a new responsibility.

Bich Tuyen captained the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the Future Stars tournament.

Accordingly, with Tran Thi Thanh Thuy having to stay in Vietnam to complete the procedures to compete in Türkiye and therefore not participating in the Future Stars tournament at the last minute, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team decided to give the captain's armband to Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. This decision is not controversial because Bich Tuyen is the biggest contributor to the recent success of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, including the Asian Women's Volleyball Cup championship, followed by the bronze medal at the World Challenge Volleyball Cup. The 24-year-old hitter from Vinh Long is currently in good form, demonstrating her leadership role on the field, promising to "sublimate" with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at Future Stars.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam women's volleyball team will give young players the opportunity to compete at the Future Stars tournament.

According to the draw results of the Future Stars 2024 international friendly volleyball tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in Group B with the Shanghai youth teams (China), Red Sparks (Korea), U.21 Elite (Canada). Meanwhile, Group A includes the U.17 China teams, U.22 France, Air Asian Thailand, Sesi VC (Brazil). According to the tournament schedule, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students will face U.21 Elite (July 22), Shanghai youth (July 23), Red Sparks (July 24). If they finish first or second in the group, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will advance to the semi-finals.

At the Future Stars 2024 international friendly volleyball tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also rejuvenated with the addition of 3 U.20 players: Dang Thi Hong, Pham Quynh Huong, Nguyen Van Ha. The remaining 10 familiar faces include: Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Le Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Tran Tu Linh, Nguyen Thi Tra My, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Le Thi Yen.
