DTO - On the morning of July 7, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phuoc Thien and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches conducted a survey at Tram Chim National Park to prepare for the conservation of red-crowned cranes.
Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong (right cover) and the working delegation conducted a survey at subdivision A4, Tram Chim National Park.
In order to effectively conserve cranes, the Provincial Party Secretary requested that Tram Chim National Park redraw the map to assess the changes in flood levels over the past 10 years. From there, appropriate regulatory solutions will be developed to restore habitats and restore the cranes in the Park in the coming time.
Surveying at sub-areas A1 and A4, the Provincial Party Secretary requested that Tram Chim National Park maintain the current state of the ecosystem here to create a playground for cranes. Along with preparing natural conditions for crane recovery, it is still necessary to pay attention to restoring the Park's habitat to the same level as 10 years ago.
In order to exploit tourism in Tram Chim National Park in the coming time more effectively and sustainably, Mr. Le Quoc Phong requested the tourism exploitation unit to study and change the scientific sightseeing service schedule and to suit the actual situation in the Park. At the same time, in order to create livelihoods and increase income for local people, Tam Nong district needs to mobilize people to participate in tourism activities; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to coordinate with the locality to open training courses on knowledge about the ecosystem in the Park, mobilize local people to participate in tourism services. This is the fundamental factor for the crane conservation work to be carried out sustainably.
During the survey, the Working Group visited households growing organic rice in the buffer zone of Phu Duc and Tan Cong Sinh communes. The households here shared that, at first, when they were encouraged to produce rice in an organic direction, they had many concerns. However, with the enthusiastic guidance from the local agricultural sector and through the model that will help the conservation of cranes in the future, the households were very supportive.

The Provincial Party Secretary was pleased with the consensus of farmers in organic rice cultivation. Because farmers understand the benefits of the model such as: linking product consumption, reducing investment costs, increasing product prices and increasing profits. Currently, there are 4 households in Phu Duc and Tan Cong Sinh communes participating in the model of cultivating nearly 40 hectares, the rice is over 80 days old, in the ripening stage... Farmers asked the provincial leaders to consider and support funding for embankment renovation, investment in power lines, pumping stations to prevent flooding for rice... The Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged and requested the provincial functional departments and branches and local authorities to conduct field surveys to support farmers in completing infrastructure, guiding farmers in applying science, techniques and technology in production to successfully implement the project... At the same time, he hoped that people would maintain and develop the model, unanimously maintain the quality of rice to build a brand for the locality as well as the conservation of red-crowned cranes.
