On the afternoon of April 16, at the Revolution Palace in Havana (Cuba), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang met with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang respectfully conveyed the warm regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and senior Vietnamese leaders to First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of always being united and supporting Cuba, opposing and calling for an end to the policy of siege and embargo against Cuba.
First Secretary and President of Cuba welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on his first official visit to Cuba, demonstrating the special affection and concern of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the special traditional friendship between the two countries.
Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel affirmed that the Cuba-Vietnam relationship is a special relationship between two peoples with a common history, fighting for national liberation and building socialism, always respecting and admiring each other, guided by the thoughts of Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro.
That relationship has always been strengthened and developed in the spirit of frankness and mutual trust, affirming its strategic importance in the current context.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized the need to create mechanisms and measures to remove difficulties and further enhance bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, and effectively implement cooperation projects, especially in the agricultural sector.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba thanked the Party, Government and people of Vietnam for their sharing and support for Cuba in the current special context, through maintaining a stable commercial supply of rice and technical support to improve food and seafood production.
The First Secretary highly appreciated the joint venture and investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba, thereby actively and effectively contributing to the stability and development of the Cuban economy. The Cuban Party and State always pay attention, closely monitor and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises operating and investing in Cuba in the fields of trade, consumer goods production, renewable energy, construction materials and industrial park infrastructure.
He hopes that more Vietnamese enterprises will cooperate with Cuba in agriculture and food processing, energy, automobile industry, bio-pharmaceuticals and medical services to effectively promote the strengths of each country, bringing the Vietnam-Cuba relationship to a new stage of development together.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba respectfully thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and senior Vietnamese leaders for the invitation, affirming his wish to soon return to visit Vietnam.
Vietnam always stands united and supports Cuba, calling for an end to the siege and embargo.
