The Trump administration will end the legal status in the United States of more than 500,000 immigrants from four countries under an immigration amnesty program under former President Joe Biden.
More than 500,000 of the above-mentioned migrants, coming from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, have been asked to leave the US by April 24, about 30 days after the notice was published in the Federal Register , according to CNN on March 24.

In January, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) unveiled a phase-out of immigration amnesty programs that allow some immigrants to temporarily live and work in the US.
DHS said in a statement that the administration of former President Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris abused the humanitarian amnesty program by expanding it to more nationalities.
"The Biden-Harris administration has abused the humanitarian amnesty program to allow 1.5 million migrants to indiscriminately enter our country. All of this was stopped on day one of the Trump administration. This action will return the humanitarian amnesty program to its original purpose of considering migrants on a case-by-case basis," DHS stressed in the statement.

Biden administration officials have argued that humanitarian amnesty has helped reduce illegal border crossings by providing migrants with a legal path to the U.S. that requires them to have a sponsor in the U.S., undergo screening and testing, and be fully vaccinated.
Many migrants under humanitarian amnesty have been in the US for less than two years. Migrants who are stripped of amnesty could face rapid deportation, according to CNN.
The Trump administration has expanded a procedure designed to expedite deportation to include undocumented immigrants anywhere in the United States who cannot prove they have lived in the country continuously for two years or more. The expedited removal procedure allows immigration authorities to deport an individual without a hearing before an immigration judge, according to CNN.
