Due to prolonged unpaid wages, teachers at Quang Nam Medical College stopped working

17 staff and teachers of the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department of Quang Nam Medical College have sent a notice of collective work stoppage to the school's leaders. The work stoppage will start from December 18.

According to teachers, the school has not paid salaries and allowances since July. However, the staff and lecturers still try to go to class because they do not want to affect the students' studies.

Due to the long period of unpaid wages, the lives of many cadres and teachers have fallen into very difficult circumstances, unable to continue working and maintain their lives.

Therefore, the faculty met and unanimously decided to stop working from December 18 until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.

At the Faculty of Nursing, the suspension of teaching will affect 6 classes D17A, D17B, D18A, D18B, Y26, D6S.

The relevant courses include Endocrine Movement, Psychology - Communication Skills, School Practice, and Internship at Quang Nam General Hospital.

Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of Quang Nam Medical College - said that the school has received notice of work stoppage from staff and teachers.

After receiving the petition from the staff and teachers, on the morning of December 15, the school leaders organized a meeting with the lecturers to discuss solutions.

According to the investigation, the problem of unpaid wages of employees of Quang Nam Medical College has been going on for a long time. In total, the school owes 6 months of wages to 114 employees with a total amount of more than 5.7 billion VND. In addition, this unit has been late in paying insurance for many months now.

Staff and teachers of Quang Nam Medical College have repeatedly sent petitions to all levels asking for intervention and resolution of salary arrears.

The provincial trade union also sent a dispatch requesting the provincial People's Committee to pay attention and direct relevant agencies to promptly resolve the issue of salary payment to ensure the rights of union members and workers, but up to now, the problem of salary arrears continues.

Accordingly, the cause of salary arrears at Quang Nam Medical College is due to serious violations in the management, operation, and financial revenue and expenditure of the school for many years. In addition, the school's revenue was affected due to the failure to attract students, and the social insurance payment exceeded the ceiling, which was advanced up to more than 11 billion VND but was not eligible for payment.

Regarding this issue, the Chairman of Quang Nam province recently requested the school to report, explain and review the collective and individual responsibilities related to the direction of the school's activities, allowing for prolonged shortcomings, causing public outrage.
