On December 27, Truong Sa Island Infirmary, Brigade 146, Navy Region 4 received and treated a fisherman from Binh Dinh province with acute appendicitis.
Previously, at around 10:00 a.m. on December 24, while fishing in the sea 120 nautical miles northwest of Truong Sa Island, Mr. Nguyen Sang, 51 years old, Tam Quang Nam ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, felt pain in the abdomen and right iliac fossa.
The patient was taken to Truong Sa Island Infirmary by fishing boat BD 98683 TS for emergency treatment at 9:30 a.m. on December 27.

Truong Sa Island Clinic examined and consulted online with Military Hospital 175, diagnosed: The patient had acute appendicitis at the 72nd hour and indicated surgery to remove the inflamed appendix, wash the abdominal cavity and drain it. After more than 1 hour of surgery, the patient's health was temporarily stable.
Currently the patient is fully conscious, responsive, and has pain at the surgical site.
In the coming time, the infirmary will consult with abdominal surgery specialists about post-operative treatment; continue post-operative treatment at the infirmary, closely monitor the patient's condition, and promptly report any abnormalities.
