Bring prosperity to the village
The border area under the management of the Quang Ninh Border Guard includes 82 communes and wards in 10 districts, towns and cities of the province. In recent years, in addition to the task of preserving and protecting sovereignty and border security, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has actively implemented activities to participate in consolidating political bases, helping people develop socio-economic development, and sustainably escape poverty.
Officers of Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station regularly go to the area to grasp the situation of the people.
Coming to the border villages, we can now clearly feel the positive changes in the people's lives. Taking us to visit the model orchards in Na Choong village, Hoanh Mo commune (Binh Lieu district), Mr. Tang Dau Ngan, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Na Choong village excitedly shared: Thanks to the propaganda, mobilization, and donation of thousands of seedlings and money to buy fertilizers for tree care by the officers and soldiers of the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, in recent years, many households in the village have boldly renovated their mixed gardens to grow fruit trees in the direction of commodity production. Thanks to that, many specialized orchards have now been formed in the village. Since then, many households have had more income, and their lives have become increasingly prosperous.
Lieutenant Colonel Vi Tien Nghiep, Deputy Political Commissar of Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, said: Due to the old and backward farming habits, the forest gardens of Na Choong villagers used to mainly grow potatoes, cassava... with low economic efficiency. To encourage people to grow new varieties of plants with high economic value, the unit sent cadres in charge of villages to regularly go to the area, to be close to, attached to, and persuade people to promote the application of science and technology in forest garden care and boldly introduce plants and animals with high economic value into production to increase income.
Notably, to help people escape poverty sustainably, in 2021, the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station mobilized funds to give households in Na Choong village 1,000 tangerine seedlings, 500 green-skinned grapefruit trees, 100 Thai jackfruit trees, 100 avocado trees, with a total value of 50 million VND, to replace low-value potatoes and cassava and support people with 70 million VND to buy fertilizer to care for the trees in the next 3 years. Up to now, the fruit gardens have grown well, initially bringing stable income to the people.
Taking us to visit the fruit garden built with the support of the Border Guard, Ms. Chiu Man Sinh (Na Choong village) shared: My family's hill garden used to mainly grow seasonal crops. Since the Border Guard promoted, mobilized and supported seedlings, fertilizers and techniques, my family has boldly switched to growing oranges, tangerines and green-skinned grapefruits. In the past 2 years, the garden has started to bear fruit, helping my family have more income, gradually improving our lives.
The initial success of the model helping the people of Na Choong village build model fruit gardens has attracted many households in the area to learn and grow their own fruit trees on their family's hill gardens.
Not only at Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, giving “fishing rods” to people to escape poverty sustainably has long been one of the tasks that comes from the heart of the green-uniformed soldiers in the Northeastern border of the Fatherland. Thereby, it contributes significantly to bringing prosperity to the border villages of the province.
In 2024 alone, the Provincial Border Guard supported and helped 6 households build model gardens with an area of nearly 30,000m2; helped people build 2 "Border shelters"; continued to effectively implement the movements "Border Guard joins hands to build new rural areas", "Accompanying women in border areas", "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of Border Guard stations"... Thereby, the relationship between the army and people has been continuously strengthened, helping many people in border areas to settle down, work happily, and be excited with the Border Guard and local Party committees and authorities to be determined to stick together and stay at the border, overcome all difficulties, and successfully complete the task of firmly protecting the national border security and sovereignty.
Empowering the grassroots political system
Along with activities to help people develop the economy, with the role of a specialized force in managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security, the provincial Border Guard has proactively participated with local Party committees and authorities to build and consolidate the grassroots political system in border areas.
Leaders of Bac Son Border Guard Station visited "Border Guard Station's adopted son" on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025.
The provincial Border Guard has directed border stations to select cadres and party members with sufficient qualifications, capacity, and enthusiasm to introduce them to participate in activities with local border party committees.
Up to now, the provincial Border Guard has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to effectively maintain the model of Border Guard officers participating in Party committees in 5 districts, cities and 24 border and island communes and wards. 95 Border Guard Party members participate in activities at Party cells in border villages and hamlets; 467 Party members are in charge of 1,690 households in border and island areas.
In carrying out the assigned tasks, this team of cadres has promoted the role of advising on building and consolidating a clean and strong party organization, helping the Party Committee complete records and books, maintain discipline, principles, and regimes for Party cell and Party committee activities; and foster and develop Party members. At the same time, they are the vanguard force to concretize the resolutions, directives, and plans of the Party Committees and People's Committees of border communes into life...
Lieutenant Colonel Le Quang Chieu, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard, said: The activity of assigning Party members of border posts to participate in activities at Party committees of border and island localities and to be in charge of households in border villages and hamlets is the concretization of the motto "3 sticking, 4 together" with the people of Border Guard officers and soldiers nationwide in general and Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard in particular.
Through these models, a strong change has been created in the Party building work at the local level, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the solidarity and attachment between the army and the people, promoting local strength in defending the Fatherland and protecting the integrity of territorial sovereignty and national border security. Thereby, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period has been enhanced, contributing to building the great national unity bloc, firmly consolidating the people's trust in the Party, State and army.
