11/05/2024 10:03 GMT+7Mr Trump and Ms Harris entered Election Day in a deadlock. According to the Financial Times, Mr Trump is almost certain to win 219 electoral votes from strongholds and Republican-leaning states.
Ms. Harris has a slight advantage when she is likely to secure 222 electoral votes from states that tend to support the Democratic Party.
The final outcome of the election will depend on the remaining 97 electoral votes, mostly from seven battleground states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina and Nevada.

Voter surveys by reputable agencies have shown that the two candidates are within 0.1 percentage points of each other in these states, so predicting the exact outcome of this year's election is almost impossible.
Besides the presidential election, this year American voters will also vote for 34/100 Senate seats and the entire House of Representatives.
Voting is expected to be completed in some states by around 7am on November 6 (Vietnam time). Vote counting will begin immediately, with results being updated continuously shortly thereafter.
