On December 3, according to information from My Tho City Police, Kien Giang Province, the unit issued a decision to arrest Tran Van Dung (born in 1989, residing in Trung Hamlet, Long Binh Commune, Go Cong Tay District) to investigate the act of property theft.
On November 25, a woman residing in Trung An commune, My Tho city, went to Phuoc Thanh commune police to report that while she was taking care of a sick child at Tien Giang General Hospital, a thief stole her iPhone worth nearly 10 million VND.

Upon receiving the report, Phuoc Thanh Commune Police transferred it to the Investigation Police Agency of My Tho City Police. Through investigation techniques, My Tho City Police identified Tran Van Dung as the phone thief and issued an emergency arrest warrant.
At the investigation agency, Tran Van Dung confessed to committing 4 thefts at hospitals in Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces. He said he often infiltrated hospitals, went around inpatient treatment rooms, and when he saw victims leaving their property unattended, he would sneak in to steal.
Currently, My Tho City Police have recovered 4 mobile phones and are continuing to expand the investigation.
Previously, on November 11 in Kien Giang, Rach Gia City Police also arrested Tran Trong Tien (born 1983, residing in Vinh Thanh ward, Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province) for theft of property.
At the police station, Tien confessed that he had just finished serving his prison sentence, had no job, and his wife had a terminal illness. Due to poverty, he had the idea of stealing to earn money to spend.
Late at night, Tien sneaked into hospital rooms, taking advantage of the carelessness of patients and their families while they were sleeping to steal property.
At around 2:00 a.m. on November 7, on the 9th floor of Kien Giang General Hospital, Tien stole two phones and 700,000 VND in cash from a patient's family.
Before that, Tien also broke into the warehouse of a construction company in the reclaimed land area of An Hoa ward, Rach Gia city, stole 2 bicycles, 2 electric drills, 1 air tank and some other equipment and then left them at a relative's house.
Up to now, the police have recovered 6 mobile phones that Tien stole and pawned, and some assets that he stole from the warehouse of the construction company to return to the victims.
