Arrested 2 people using military guns and slingshots to hunt rare animals in Quang Nam

On March 5, the Investigation Security Agency of Quang Nam Province Police announced that it had just issued an arrest warrant for Ho Van Dai (born in 1988, residing in Phuoc Hoa Commune, Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam) and A Ngua (born in 2000, residing in Kon Tum Province) to continue investigating the act of "Illegal storage, transportation, and use of military weapons".

Initial investigation determined that on the morning of January 7, Ho Van Dai and A Ngua brought food, a gun, military weapons, and many other hunting tools into the forest in area 9, sub-area 626, Phuoc Xuan commune, Phuoc Son district. There, the two subjects set up camp to hunt wild animals.

On January 7-8, Dai and Ngua used a gun to shoot 15 bullets and captured 3 flying squirrels. In addition, the two subjects also used traps and slingshots to hunt 12 other animals, including a small loris (listed as an endangered, precious, rare species that is prioritized for protection).

On January 9, the two subjects were dividing the animals to transport back when they were discovered and seized by the authorities. Searching the camp set up by Dai and Ngua, the authorities discovered many objects related to illegal hunting, including a gun belonging to the military.
