Recently, the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) predicted that in 2025, the number of tourists worldwide will increase by 3-5% compared to 2024 if the Asia-Pacific region continues to recover and the remaining regions maintain stable growth.

UN Tourism predicts that in 2025, the number of tourists worldwide will increase by 3-5% compared to 2024.

This forecast was made by the United Nations Tourism Organization under the condition of favorable global economic development, continued decline in inflation and non-escalation of the geopolitical situation.

This assessment is also built on the stability of global tourism growth following a strong recovery in international arrivals in 2023 (up 33% compared to 2022) and 2024 (up 11% compared to 2023).

The latest UN Tourism Travel Confidence Index also reflects these positive expectations, with some 64% of experts on the UN Tourism Organization’s Panel of Experts seeing “better” or “much better” prospects for global tourism in 2025 than in 2024.

Meanwhile, about 26% of experts believe that the world tourism situation in 2025 will remain similar to 2024. And 9% of experts predict that this sector will be "worse" or "much worse" than last year.

However, experts from the United Nations Tourism Organization also pointed out difficulties that could impact global tourism. Accordingly, economic and geopolitical challenges remain potential risks to the recovery and development of the world tourism industry.

Rising transport and accommodation costs, along with other economic factors such as volatile oil prices, are the main challenges the entire tourism industry will face in 2025, according to UN Tourism.

Besides, challenges from geopolitics, risks from extreme weather and labor shortage also significantly affect the development of tourism.

In this context, experts predict that tourists will focus on finding destinations that offer experiences and value commensurate with the money they spend.

Experts from the United Nations Tourism Organization also emphasized that balancing growth and sustainable development goals is extremely important for global tourism in 2025. This is reflected in tourist trends such as: seeking sustainable activities and experiences and exploring lesser-known destinations.
