According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on September 30, the center of storm Krathon was located at about 20.4 degrees North latitude; 121.3 degrees East longitude, in the sea north of Luzon Island (Philippines).
The strongest wind near the storm center is level 15 (167-183km/h), gusting over level 17. Moving in the West Northwest direction, speed 10-15km/h.
In the next 24 hours, Typhoon Krathon is likely to enter the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea. According to current forecasts, the typhoon is unlikely to affect coastal areas and mainland of our country.
Storm forecast for the next 24 to 72 hours:
From the next 72 to 120 hours, storm Krathon will move mainly in the North-Northeast direction, traveling about 5-10km per hour, and its intensity will continue to weaken.
The meteorological agency forecasts that due to the impact of the storm, the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea (north of latitude 18.0N; east of longitude 116.5E) will have strong winds of level 6-7, increasing to level 8-9 from early morning on October 1, waves 2-4m high, then increasing to level 10-12, near the storm center level 13-15, gusting above level 17, waves 7-9m high; rough seas.
In particular, there is currently a low pressure trough with an axis at about 19-22 degrees North latitude connecting with storm Krathon. Forecast for the night of October 1 and the day of October 2, in the Gulf of Tonkin, there will be northeast winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas. Waves will be 2-3m high.
Ships operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the effects of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
Regarding the impact area of Typhoon Krathon, the Taiwan Meteorological Administration has issued a warning as the typhoon approaches Taiwan. The agency's weather forecaster said that Typhoon Krathon will continue to strengthen, causing strong winds and heavy rain in Taiwan from the morning of October 1 to October 3.
Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration also forecast that Typhoon Krathon may change direction as it moves from Taiwan to the sea south of Jeju Island. If Typhoon Krathon continues to move north of the Korean Peninsula, it is predicted that the storm may directly affect South Korea between October 1 and 3.
