The conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip will cost Israel about $50 billion. (Source: AP) |
This figure is equivalent to 10% of Israel's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is calculated in the event of a war lasting 8-12 months, taking place only in the Gaza Strip and about 350,000 Israelis in the army's reserve force returning to work soon.
Earlier, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that the government is preparing an economic relief package for those affected by Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel. This relief package is expected to be larger than the relief package offered during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the same day, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry updated that at least 45 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on November 4.
Earlier, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qudra announced that 30 people died in the incident. Meanwhile, Israel has not confirmed the attack on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp.
An Israeli military spokesman said they were looking into the possibility that other military forces were operating in the area at the time of the bombing.
