Information about US President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam was published by a series of major newspapers and news agencies with positive comments.

President Joe Biden will pay a state visit to Vietnam on September 10-11 at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This is President Biden's first visit to Vietnam since taking office in early 2021. The event takes place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries.

The White House chief arrived in Vietnam right after attending the G20 summit in New Delhi, India. Mr. Biden's visit to Vietnam attracted a lot of attention from the world media, with major news agencies reporting it in the headlines.

"For decades, the United States and Vietnam have worked to overcome the painful legacy of war,"   AFP quoted US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan when reporting on the event. "This visit is a remarkable step forward in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries and it reflects Vietnam's role in the US network of partners in the Indo-Pacific region."

Reporting on the visit, Reuters commented that the US now considers Vietnam an "important partner in the region".

"President Biden will visit Vietnam to meet with top officials and discuss a range of issues from technology and economics to regional stability and climate change," the news agency wrote.

In a commentary, Reuters said that the US is eager to support Vietnam in developing its semiconductor industry. In addition, energy is also an area where the two sides can strengthen cooperation.

"We have a very good relationship with Vietnam and that relationship is improving in many areas. So we will continue to look for opportunities to improve that relationship. This is an important relationship in a very important part of the world," CNN quoted US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby as saying when reporting on President Biden's visit to Vietnam.

The Washington Post quoted Thomas Vallely, who has participated in planning visits to Vietnam for many US leaders, saying that historically, this is the "most significant visit to Vietnam ever by a US president" and will contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries that were "former enemies in the war".

The Economist, UK, said that Mr. Biden is the 5th US president to visit Vietnam during his term in office. However, this event is certainly the most important since President Bill Clinton's visit in 2000, as this is the first time a US president has made a state visit at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

A series of news sites and newspapers in the region, from China, Japan, to Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, also reported on the visit with positive comments.

According to Diplomat magazine, it would be perfect if the White House boss could "stay longer in Hanoi, stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake and even stop by a roadside restaurant to enjoy local flavors, like President Barack Obama did 7 years ago".

"However, President Biden's visit to Hanoi is still considered a historic moment in Vietnam-US relations," the magazine commented.
