Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy requested the Thang Long Project Management Board to be proactive in preparing resources and capacity to carry out new projects with higher requirements and larger scale.
"Make sure" the steps of construction investment
This afternoon (December 25), Thang Long Project Management Board held a conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025.

Attending and giving a speech at the conference, the Deputy Minister of Transport acknowledged and highly appreciated the collective leadership, officials and employees of the Thang Long Project Management Board for successfully completing the assigned tasks last year.
In particular, in a short time, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the Thang Long Project Management Board has urgently completed procedures, ensuring all conditions to start the new Phong Chau bridge project on schedule.
Assigning tasks for 2025 to the unit, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy requested the Thang Long Project Management Board to make more efforts to implement assigned projects.
"The officers and specialists of the Board must be careful from the bidding documents to the construction investment steps; continue to review and participate in the construction process, and adjust the standard unit price," the Deputy Minister directed.
Emphasizing that by 2025, the expressway projects currently being implemented will be basically completed. New road projects are directed by competent authorities to be fully decentralized to localities for implementation. Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy requested the Thang Long Project Management Board to soon plan for future development with more difficult tasks.
"The next project will be the North-South high-speed railway project with a total investment of more than 67 billion USD, and the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong national railway project with a preliminary total investment of more than 8 billion USD, many times higher than the investment level of the North-South expressway project currently being implemented.
Where will the Thang Long Project Management Board position itself in that and what will it prepare, how will it prepare, will it strive or stay out of the game?", Deputy Minister Huy raised the issue, at the same time requiring the unit to have a proactive mindset to accept new tasks.
"Not only the board leaders but all officers and civil servants must join in helping the Thang Long Project Management Board keep pace with the development trend of the industry and the country and be the leading bird in the project management board block of the Ministry.
The committee must maintain solidarity to march together in the new era - the era of national growth under the direction of the General Secretary," Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy suggested.
Receiving the direction of the Ministry of Transport leaders, Mr. Dinh Cong Minh, Director of Thang Long Project Management Board said that in preparation for new opportunities with invited projects, the unit has taken specific steps, coordinating with the University of Transport to train railway specialists, equipping the board's officers and employees with basic knowledge for development.

Effective implementation of investment preparation work
Previously, reporting at the conference, Mr. Phung Tuan Son, Deputy Director of Thang Long Project Management Board, said that in 2024, the Board continued to effectively carry out investment preparation work for 5 projects.
Of which, 3 projects have been approved for investment by the Ministry of Transport, including: Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway (phase 1) under the PPP method; Ninh Cuong Bridge construction investment project across Ninh Co River on National Highway 37B; New Phong Chau Bridge construction investment project - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province under the Emergency Construction Order.
3 projects are continuing to prepare for investment.
Along with the North-South Expressway Eastern component projects phase 1, the unit is in charge of implementing 2 component projects on the North-South Expressway phase 2, namely Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang.
During the year, the Board also continued to hand over projects for 3 projects and 2 items using surplus capital, including: Project to upgrade runways and taxiways of Noi Bai International Airport; Expressway section Mai Son - National Highway 45, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section; Construction of 2 urban bridge units and traffic organization at Mai Dich intersection and construction of overpass at National Highway 39 intersection.
"Regarding the disbursement of public investment capital, out of the total assigned capital plan of more than 6,600 billion VND, by the end of December 17, the Board had disbursed more than 4,800 billion VND, reaching approximately 73% of the plan.
It is expected that by the end of January 2025, the Board will disburse more than VND 6,274 billion, reaching 95% of the assigned capital plan for 2024," Mr. Son informed.
