Bac Giang launched a campaign to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households.

On the morning of March 8, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang province, and Steering Committee 714 organized a launching ceremony to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and families of meritorious people; and improve housing in Bac Giang province in 2024.

In recent years, the socio -economic situation of Bac Giang province has made many remarkable developments, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved and enhanced; the poverty rate has decreased every year, the economic growth rate of Bac Giang province in the past 3 years has always been among the leading provinces in the country.

However, Bac Giang is a large province, the poverty rate is still high compared to the national average; the province has 4 mountainous districts, Son Dong is one of the poorest districts in the country; over 76% of the population lives in rural areas, mainly living on agriculture ...

On the other hand, a part of the people (the poor) do not really have the awareness to strive to escape poverty, many households still rely on and wait for the support of the State and the community and are satisfied with their current life, falling back into poverty and becoming poorer still occur.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Cong Thang - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang province said that in the period of 2021 - 2023, the Fatherland Front at all levels of Bac Giang province coordinated with member organizations to build new and repair 3,807 "Great Solidarity" houses for poor households, near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances with a total value of nearly 400 billion VND.

Of which, the Vietnam Fatherland Front took the lead in supporting the construction and repair of 2,670 houses, while member organizations of the Front mobilized support for the construction and repair of 1,137 houses.

Along with mobilizing support for working days and materials, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations have mobilized and supported from the "For the Poor" Fund and the social security program with a support amount of 105 billion 200 million VND.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Le Anh Duong - Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 714 of Bac Giang province said that, implementing the Party and State's policy of caring for people with meritorious services and joining hands to help the poor "leaving no one behind", in recent years, all levels, sectors, localities, business communities and people of all walks of life in Bac Giang province have always cared for and created the best conditions for everyone, every household to access and enjoy maximum social security policies, especially support for repairing and building new houses.

In 3 years (from 2021-2023), the whole province supported the construction and repair of nearly 3,800 "Great Solidarity" houses with a total cost of 105 billion VND, creating conditions to help households gradually overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

However, through preliminary statistics and screening, currently Bac Giang province still has 1,595 poor and near-poor households and 467 meritorious households with housing difficulties that need to be repaired or rebuilt.

In order to create a fundamental change in housing quality in the province, aiming at the goal of all Bac Giang residents having safe and stable housing, having conditions to improve their living standards, and sustainably escaping poverty, Bac Giang province is determined to eliminate 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households; support 100% of families with meritorious services who are facing housing difficulties and need to repair or rebuild in 2024.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province emphasized that this is a program of profound political, social and humanistic significance, demonstrating the fine tradition of "remembering the source of water" and the spirit of solidarity and "mutual love" of the Vietnamese people. Arousing the strength of the entire political system and society to care for the poor, policy households and people with meritorious services.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and Steering Committee for Mobilization of Bac Giang province, Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong called on agencies, organizations, enterprises, collectives, individuals, cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, people of all walks of life, and Bac Giang compatriots living across the country to unite and join hands in supporting in many forms... to successfully implement the program.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province requested local Party committees and authorities to synchronously deploy solutions to create consensus and mobilize the entire political system.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested socio-political organizations, military and police forces to actively mobilize cadres, soldiers, union members and association members to participate in supporting human and financial resources for the program to successfully complete its set goals. At the same time, he requested agencies, units and localities to implement openly, transparently and effectively use support resources.

From there, it further motivates people to have confidence in life, believe in the policies of the Party and State, feel secure in "settling down and having a career", stabilizing their lives and striving to rise up.
