Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, said in a recent interview with the Guardian that she had not spoken to President Joe Biden since pressuring him to drop out of the presidential race in July. Her move came after Mr. Biden had a disappointing debate performance against Republican candidate Donald Trump. "I have great respect for him. I think Mr. Biden is one of the most influential presidents in the country," she said. However, she was concerned that his achievements would not be protected if he ran for president again and advised him to choose a different path. Previously, Ms. Pelosi was said to be one of the senior figures of the Democratic Party who had privately urged President Biden to drop out of the White House race this year. Ms. Pelosi's revelation may partly show her personal relationship with Mr. Biden since then. After Mr. Biden decided not to run for re-election, Ms. Pelosi quickly urged the Democratic Party to support Vice President Kamala Harris. Nancy expressed pride in Harris' leadership, noting that the Vice President is not only the first female or black candidate, but also a politician with a solid understanding of policy and strategy. "I've always thought America needed a female president more than a female speaker of the House," Nancy said. In the interview, Nancy also criticized Trump, saying his statements were "disrespectful and hateful," especially toward women and immigrants. She expressed concern about the possibility of increased political violence due to the influence of candidate Trump's words. Pelosi emphasized the importance of the 2024 election, predicting the possibility of a riot similar to the January 6, 2021 event if Trump prevails in the race for the White House.
