That is the story of Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung, an actress of the Dance Team (Art Troupe of Military Region 3) and her two nieces, Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly, an actress of the Dance Team (Art Troupe of Military Region 3) and Do Phuong Hoai Linh, a student of Class 40, Dance Faculty, University of Military Culture and Arts. With honor and pride, Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung and her two nieces are actively practicing to contribute to the success of the celebration.

When meeting comrade Nhung and her two nieces, the biggest thing we noticed in common was their passion for the art of dancing and their love for the green uniform of the soldier. “Phuong Ly is my sister’s child, and Hoai Linh is my brother’s child. Both of them came to live with me when they were 10 years old. Seeing their passion for dancing, their parents sent them to live with me. Living under the same roof, taking care of their every meal and sleep, and teaching and guiding them through their first dance lessons, I consider them as my own children. To them, I am like a second mother, sharing joys and sorrows, and working hard to make their dreams come true,” Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung confided.

Guided by their aunts, Ly and Linh always strive to study and become dancers in the Army. Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly graduated and worked at the Military Region 3 Art Troupe with her aunt. Hoai Linh is currently a second-year student in the Dance Department of the Military University of Culture and Arts.

By chance, to serve the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Reunification of the Country, all three aunts and nieces were summoned. With the responsibility of a soldier and the honor of being selected to serve in the parade and art formation, the three family members all tried their best to practice, overcome difficulties, arrange family work and professional work at the unit to complete the mission.

The first to "march" was Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly when she was called up to the Vietnam Women's Peacekeeping Officers' Team in December 2024. Although she was used to the soft, artistic dance movements every day, when practicing the parade, Phuong Ly quickly approached, practiced diligently, and performed the movements according to the regulations, demonstrating the strength and power of the Army. Phuong Ly said: "Along with performing professional tasks, the commander of the Military Region 3 Art Troupe also regularly maintained our on-the-job training, including the regulations on the formation, so I mastered the basic movements to enter advanced training, with more stringent requirements. In the first days of practice, my sisters and I had some pain and fatigue, but thanks to my experience in practicing dance, I quickly overcame that situation."

After nearly 5 months of training, up to now, Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly and the officers and staff in the Vietnam female peacekeeping officer group have made more and more progress, coordinating movements within the group to meet the requirements: Correct, even, strong, beautiful, unified, through inspections by the Military Region, joint training organized by the Ministry of National Defense, all have been highly appreciated.

In early March, assigned to perform additional tasks, Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung and student Do Phuong Hoai Linh began practicing for the artistic formation performance in the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The program lasted only nearly 10 minutes but recreated historical images of the period of complete liberation of the South and national reunification with high requirements, precise movements, creating shapes, ensuring both artistry and performing the trumpet commands of the military band. Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung shared: “The performance requires close coordination from all members of the group, especially walking on the right track, standing in the right position, not being able to deviate even a few centimeters or it will affect the formation. In addition, the movements must be both flexible and soft but still decisive and strong according to the military band commands”.

As for second-year student Do Phuong Hoai Linh, being able to perform with Ms. Nhung and her colleagues in a big program, Linh felt very honored and proud but also very nervous and worried. "They are all experienced, professional and brave when participating in the program, so they grasped the script and performed the movements faster than me," Do Phuong Hoai Linh expressed.

Despite having to practice quickly, at high intensity, in unpredictable weather, sometimes sunny, sometimes rainy, Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung still encouraged Do Phuong Hoai Linh to try her best. After each practice session, the two of them practiced more to help Linh perform the movements more smoothly and gracefully.

In the past time, the Art Troupe of Military Region 3 was assigned to carry out many intertwined tasks, with short preparation time and high artistic requirements, but Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung and Second Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly always promoted their sense of responsibility, together with the whole troupe, successfully completed all tasks, and achieved many outstanding achievements such as participating in the 2023 Army-wide Professional Art Performance, winning a Gold medal.

With a desire to contribute to art and a sense of responsibility in carrying out their duties, Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hong Nhung, Second Lieutenant Le Thi Phuong Ly and student Do Phuong Hoai Linh are working hard and urgently practicing, ready to contribute to the success of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
