(NLDO) – Bowls of noodles with vegetables, eggs, and sausages but only 1,000 VND or free have helped poor workers in Ca Mau ease their burden of making a living.

Stemming from the desire to help workers in difficult circumstances, Mr. Truong Minh Duong (living in Ward 6, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province) and some friends established a 1,000 VND or free noodle shop in Ward 5, Ca Mau City so that lottery ticket sellers, scrap collectors... can have relatively good meals but not too expensive.

People who collect scrap metal and sell lottery tickets have a hard time making a living.

At first, Mr. Duong and his friends pooled money to buy noodles, eggs, sausages, vegetables... to carry out the idea. When the good deed spread, many benefactors brought noodles, eggs... to support the noodle shop with 1,000 VND.

People cook their own noodles and throw garbage in designated places to ensure hygiene.

"For the first time guests come to eat, the team will guide everyone, and the next time when the people get used to it, they can do it themselves. The work is hard, but seeing that we can share some of the difficulties with the people makes everyone happy," said Mr. Duong.

After a day of selling lottery tickets and collecting scrap metal, Ms. Lien Kim Quyen (39 years old) and her daughter Lien Kim Xuyen (14 years old; residing in Ca Mau City) and Mr. Chau Phu Vinh (82 years old; residing in Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau Province) went to the 1,000 VND noodle shop with tired legs.

The establishment of a 1,000 VND or free noodle shop has helped workers in difficult circumstances in Ca Mau ease their burden of making a living.

"Every day my mother and I sell lottery tickets and make a profit of about 200,000 VND, but we have to spend a lot of money so there's not much left. Noodles are 1,000 VND but have eggs, sausages... so I find them delicious and happy because I feel the kindness of the uncles and aunts for the poor workers" - Xuyen confided.

1,000 VND bowls of noodles have warmed the hearts of workers

Similarly, Mr. Vinh said that he now collects scrap metal and sells it for about 40,000 VND, but hiring a mechanic to replace a bicycle stand costs 50,000 VND. "I passed by and thought I would be charged for it, so I didn't dare go in. When the kids at the noodle shop invited me in for a meal and told me to come back the next day, I was very happy. I'll eat this meal and then collect some more scrap metal and go home," Mr. Vinh shared.

Talking about future plans, Mr. Duong said that the 1,000 VND or free noodle shop has no target for how long it will operate. However, the group members always determine to maintain this model as long as possible to help more people in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Tran Huu Long, Vice Chairman of Ward 5 People's Committee, said that the work of Mr. Truong Minh Duong and his friends is very meaningful. Ward 5 People's Committee will create favorable conditions for the model to operate and maintain.
