Runner-up of Block C00 nationwide becomes valedictorian of Hanoi Law University

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Ngo Hong Ngoc scored 29.5 points with block C00, was the runner-up in block C00 nationwide and became the valedictorian of the Law major at Hanoi Law University.

Study tips

On the morning of July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the 2024 high school graduation exam scores. Hong Ngoc and her parents anxiously entered their registration number to check their scores.

The female student said that the moment her family saw her score appear on the screen, everyone in the family burst into tears of happiness and joy, and it took them a few minutes to regain their composure.

Sharing her study secrets, the new valedictorian said that every day she spends all her time studying, she only spends 4 hours sleeping and 1-2 hours for personal activities. In particular, the female student from Bac Ninh always adheres to discipline in studying and allocates time reasonably to thoroughly solve the amount of knowledge that needs to be absorbed.

“I have a fixed schedule at school in the morning and afternoon, and I study by myself in the evening. Before studying, I usually review my knowledge, mark difficult questions to ask my teachers and friends that same evening.

Every day, I practice test questions from 7pm to 12am and wake up at 4am to memorize knowledge, because during this time the brain remembers the most easily," the new valedictorian shared.

During the exam preparation process, the female student was most confident in History. Hong Ngoc said: “I am a student majoring in History, so my background knowledge is quite solid. Therefore, entering the final stage, I only focused on reviewing application and high-level application questions.”

In addition, the new valedictorian regularly contacts issues that have occurred in recent years to expand knowledge and think more deeply about domestic and world history.

Regarding Literature, Hong Ngoc said that in addition to mastering the knowledge in textbooks, she reads more books to be able to relate one work to another, helping to enrich her writing. In particular, she actively searches for and remembers the comments and famous quotes included in her writing to have advanced knowledge.

As for Geography, Hong Ngoc's secret is that after each lesson at school, she will find a way to connect the lesson content and the Atlas to both practice Atlas usage skills and minimize the amount of knowledge to remember.

Hong Ngoc emphasized, "Proficient use of the Atlas is very important, thanks to that I feel very confident when doing the test or even in the actual exam room."

Sweet fruit from effort

Hong Ngoc was born and raised in a family with farming parents. Since childhood, the female student from Bac Ninh witnessed her parents working hard to earn a living and send their children to school.

Life is hard but Hong Ngoc's parents always want their children to have a good education.

"Despite the difficulties, my parents always support my dreams and decisions during my studies. My father used to encourage me that as long as I study well, even if it is difficult, my parents will save money to support my education," Hong Ngoc confided.

Understanding those sacrifices, during her high school years, the female student always tried to study well to be able to reach the university gate to fulfill her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Hong Ngoc said: "Coming from a family where no one is in the law profession, but because of my shy nature, I dream of becoming a good lawyer, to help me become stronger, more confident and more active when interacting with people."

Thanks to that motivation, in the 2024 high school graduation exam, Hong Ngoc achieved 29.5 points in block C00, excellently becoming the national runner-up.

Not only did she achieve high results in the High School Graduation Exam, the female valedictorian of the Law major also made others admire her academic results throughout three years of high school.

For two consecutive years, Hong Ngoc has consecutively won high prizes in the History competition for excellent students. Notably, the female student from Bac Ninh was also honored to win a Bronze medal in History at the 14th Northern Delta Coastal Competition in 2023.

Before that, I was also the valedictorian of the History class at Bac Ninh Specialized High School in 2021.

Witnessing her little student entering the gate of her dream university, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, a teacher at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted (Bac Ninh) shared: “Hong Ngoc is a determined student with a very good self-study spirit. Every day in class, she listens attentively to lectures and actively does many outlines to consolidate her knowledge.

She studies all social subjects equally, and her academic results are always at the top of her class. I am not only impressed by her learning process, but also by her gentle personality and her determination to strive to fulfill her dreams.

Ms. Ngoc also added that when she learned that her student became the valedictorian of Hanoi Law University, she was very happy. That result was the answer to Hong Ngoc's efforts and hard work throughout her years of high school.

Ms. Ngoc hopes that in the future, the new valedictorian will fulfill her dream and try harder to become a good lawyer.

Sharing about her future plans, Hong Ngoc said: "Hanoi Law University has many excellent students, I need to try to study hard and actively participate in many school activities to practice more soft skills.

Entering university is just the first step in the journey to realize your dream, and so is being valedictorian. To be worthy of this title, I have to work harder and strive harder. I hope that after 4 years of university, I will become a good lawyer."
