(PLVN) - On October 12, Kien Giang Provincial Business Association held a meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day.
Mr. Nguyen Luu Trung - Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee said that in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole province had 1,095 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 8,603 billion (ranked 3rd in the Mekong Delta after Long An and Can Tho provinces), bringing the total number of operating enterprises in the province to more than 12,400 enterprises with a registered capital of more than VND 213,600 billion, contributing significantly to the growth of the province's GRDP.
In particular, the province's businessmen and enterprises are the leading force in social security activities, poverty reduction, new rural construction, labor training, and job creation for workers in the province.

In addition to the achieved results, Mr. Trung shared that there are still difficulties and challenges that directly affect the operation and production of enterprises in many fields, such as many enterprises having to dissolve, stop operating, violating the provisions of the law on investment, business, environment, construction...
In order to promptly overcome limitations and remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested departments, branches and localities to effectively implement policies to support businesses; promote administrative procedure reform, proactively grasp and coordinate to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles of businesses and pay attention to female entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs operating in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.
“The Provincial Business Association needs to promote its role as a representative organization of businessmen and enterprises, uphold the spirit of solidarity, sharing, support, promote cooperation, joint ventures, and associations between enterprises, between enterprises and workers to build harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations.
The Association needs to have solutions to attract more members to participate in order to further promote its role as a bridge between local authorities and the business community and enterprises to reflect and solve common difficulties for enterprises," Mr. Trung suggested.
The Provincial Business Association said: Kien Giang currently has more than 8,000 operating businesses generating revenue. In the first 9 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods reached 119,000 billion VND; import and export of goods reached 686 million USD, social security contributions through the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province were over 10 billion VND.

Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Phuong - President of Kien Giang Province Business Association - informed that in recent times, the province has always paid attention to, created favorable conditions, and created a legal corridor for the open development of entrepreneurs and enterprises in the province; the team of entrepreneurs and enterprises in the province has developed rapidly, both in quantity and quality, with increasingly effective structure, scale and fields of operation.
“The business association is always a common home, a bridge between businesses and the government, a companion of the business community, for the development of Kien Giang homeland,” Ms. Phuong emphasized.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 28 enterprises that increased production and business efficiency, contributing to completing and exceeding the province's socio-economic development targets; awarded 24 certificates of merit to outstanding Kien Giang entrepreneurs in 2024; and honored 10 outstanding entrepreneurs who have made many contributions to the provincial business community over the past 20 years.
The provincial business association also donated 100 million VND to the Kien Giang Provincial Scholarship Fund to support and help disadvantaged students in the province.
