According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and each locality, announced on the afternoon of February 2 (the 5th day of Tet), during the recent Tet holiday, tourism nationwide is estimated to have welcomed 12.5 million domestic visitors, an increase of about 19% over the same period last year. Foreign visitors also increased by an average of about 30% thanks to the effect of visa policies, restructuring of the tourist market and the efforts of businesses and localities.

Not only did the number of visitors increase sharply, but the revenue of many provinces and cities also grew strongly. In 2024, only Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang achieved revenue of over 1,000 billion VND, this year, 8 provinces and cities surpassed the trillion mark. The five new localities are Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Ninh Binh.

Ho Chi Minh City leads with estimated revenue of VND 7,690 billion, an increase of more than 17% over the same period in 2024. Hanoi ranks second with VND 3,530 billion, an increase of nearly 8% over the same period. Da Nang ranks third with VND 1,887 billion, an increase of more than 19% over 2024. Domestic flights increased by 70%, international flights increased by 45%, bringing outstanding revenue to Da Nang.

Tet At Ty is considered a bumper crop for Kien Giang tourism, in which Phu Quoc contributes nearly 70% of visitors and revenue. Kien Giang achieved revenue of 1,886 billion VND, equivalent to Da Nang, bringing the growth rate to nearly 50% over the same period. Phu Quoc during Tet has a large number of international visitors with high spending and accommodation. Near Tet, the island welcomes an average of 38-40 international flights arriving and departing.

Quang Ninh also had a big jump in revenue with VND2,665 billion, up 71% over the same period thanks to customers spending more. The number of visitors to the province during Tet increased by only 21%, reaching 969,000.

In Khanh Hoa , the number of visitors and vacationers from January 27 to February 1 (28th of Tet to the end of the 4th of Tet) was 940,500, helping the average room occupancy rate to be 82%, mainly concentrated in the city center, peaking from the 2nd to the 5th of Tet. 5-star resorts in the Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula tourist area had an occupancy rate of over 90%. Total revenue was VND 1,356 billion, an increase of 41% compared to 2024.

Thanks to the hot spot of Sa Pa, Lao Cai achieved revenue of 1,342 billion VND, of which total revenue from international visitors reached about 126 billion VND, total revenue from domestic visitors reached about 1,215 billion VND, an increase of 49% over the same period in 2024. In addition to Sa Pa, many destinations in Lao Cai also attract many tourists such as Lao Cai city, Bac Ha district, Bat Xat district, Bao Yen district.

With preliminary statistics reaching 1,000 billion VND, up 20% compared to last year, Ninh Binh is a locality that "scores" prominently during the Tet At Ty. The average room occupancy rate in the province is 80-85%. Famous destinations in Ninh Binh that attract many visitors include Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Bai Dinh Pagoda, Trang An Ecological Area, Tam Coc, and Mua Cave.

There is no information on total tourism revenue of the whole province, but Quang Nam, with the ancient town of Hoi An as its center, is also a locality that attracts many visitors, with a high growth rate. The total number of visitors and accommodation increased by 30% compared to the same period last year, reaching 395,000, of which international visitors increased by 40%, 4-5 star hotels were 90-95% full, other coastal hotels reached 70% capacity.

In addition to localities with revenue of thousands of billions, many other localities also had a bumper Tet holiday. Thanh Hoa has an estimated total number of visitors of about 675,000, up 9.7%, total revenue of about 570 billion VND, up 12.6% over the same period in 2024. Ba Ria - Vung Tau is estimated to welcome more than 860,000 visitors, up 27%, revenue of 560 billion VND, up 24%.

However, according to the National Tourism Administration, there are still many factors affecting revenue such as transportation costs - airfares increase by 10-15% compared to 2024. The trend of choosing international tours to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea instead of domestic destinations of Vietnamese tourists continues to increase. In addition, domestic tourists' spending is limited by the general economic difficulties.

The 9-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2025, announced early, combined with favorable weather in most localities across the country, has increased people's travel demand compared to the same period in 2024. Outdoor tourism activities are vibrant and safe, bringing a joyful and exciting atmosphere to people and tourists.
