The sixth National Book Awards have many new features.
The National Book Awards are organized and awarded annually, directed and managed by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and directly implemented by the Vietnam Publishing Association and the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution. This year, the Awards have 51 publishers participating, 10 more than the 6th National Book Awards in 2023.
The number of books participating in the Award includes 372 titles and book series, including 455 books (60 more titles and book series, 20 more books than the 6th National Book Award). Based on the results of the preliminary round, the Final Round Council selected 60 titles to submit to the National Book Council for consideration.
The organizers said that this is the first time the Award has a category of books that are loved by readers and there are 4 nominations: "The Story of the Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly" by Luis Sepúlveda, translated by Phuong Huyen, Writers Association Publishing House, affiliated unit: Nha Nam Culture and Communication Company; "Nameless Summer" by Nguyen Nhat Anh, Tre Publishing House; "The Teacher" by Nguyen Chi Vinh, People's Army Publishing House; "How Much Is Youth Worth" by Rosie Nguyen, Writers Association Publishing House, affiliated unit: Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company.
