5 'fiery' title fights at MMA LION Championship 11 event

The highlight match of the MMA event at the end of 2023 will be the confrontation between the reigning 65kg champion, the 2018 Asian Games wushu bronze medalist Nghiem Van Y. He will defend his title against Brazilian fighter Felipe Ventzki Negochadle. The 70kg championship match between 20-year-old Dao ethnic boxer Ban Van Hoang and 40-year-old Vietnamese- Polish boxer Kamil Michal Nguyen Van. Van Hoang entered the title match with 3 wins against Dang Thang Nguyen, Le Van The Anh and Nghiem Tung Lam. Meanwhile, for Kamil, this is his third chance to touch the championship belt after two defeats against former champion Tran Quang Loc in the 2022 season final and the LION Championship 06 event.

In the 84 kg heavyweight category, the championship belt was decided by two fighters from the wushu fighting (sanshou) sport. The 2019 world wushu silver medalist Pham Cong Minh, who won against Cao Viet Anh, Hoang Tran Minh Hieu and Ngo Hong Giang, is also the fastest winner of the LION Championship in 15 seconds. Cong Minh's opponent is national wushu champion Tran Quoc Toan. The boxer from Tuyen Quang also won two victories against Luong Minh Canh and Pham Hung Hai.

In the 60 kg category, the championship title left by Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat was decided by a match between Brazilian boxer Robson De Oliveira Soares and Bui Truong Sinh. After defeating Submission Phan Huy Hoang, Robson jumped to the 1st place and the Brazilian boxer is also a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. On the opposite side, Truong Sinh got the 3rd place after a knockout victory over Le Van Tuan .

The only women's title match of the event in the 56kg category was Duong Thi Thanh Binh defending her title against Hungarian Bianka Balajti. Before getting the chance to challenge the champion, the Hungarian rose had 3 consecutive victories over Nguyen Thi Huong , Le Nguyen Khanh Linh and Nguyen Thi Uyen Nhi.

Some other notable matches include SEA Games 30 kickboxing gold medalist Pham Ba Hoi rematching Pham Ngoc Canh in the men's 56 kg category after losing by technical knockout in the quarter-finals of the LION Championship 2022. Also in the men's 56 kg category, Le Huy Hoang (3rd place) will face Do Huy Hoang (1st place), who just won the SEA Games 32 sandboxing silver medal.
