Computers and Information Technology are always in the top groups of majors that attract candidates. In particular, the Computer group has 6 training majors including: Computer Science, Computer Networks and Data Communications, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology. The Information Technology group has two training majors: Information Technology and Information Security.
Basically, the biggest difference between these two groups lies in the training objectives. For the Computer group, the main objective is to provide basic knowledge of computers such as operation, hardware structure; information theory; operating systems and computer data processing methods; data structures and algorithms; data science; computer theory and applications in information system management...
Meanwhile, the main goal of the Information Technology industry is to apply this basic knowledge to develop applications and software systems to serve various areas of life.
According to statistics from TopDev, the largest IT recruitment site today, the demand for human resources in the Computer and Information Technology industry in Vietnam is increasing rapidly. Specifically, in 2021, the market is estimated to need 450,000 people and the estimated shortage is up to 190,000 people. In 2022, the market demand for this industry will increase to 530,000 people and the shortage is about 150,000 people.
In addition, according to the Draft National Strategy on Vietnam's digital technology companies by 2025, it is expected that there will be about 70,000 technology companies with 1.2 million employees working in this field. Vietnam aims to have 100,000 digital technology companies and 1.5 million digital workers by 2030.

Choosing a major or training group depends largely on the orientation and personality of each candidate. - Backend/Frontend development programming with an average monthly salary of 8-20 million VND after graduation.

- Software analysis and testing (Quality Control – QC, Tester) with an average monthly salary of 8-12 million VND after graduation.
This position belongs to the software quality assurance sector in the IT industry, and is responsible for performing software quality testing.
- System development and operation (DevOps) with an average monthly salary of 10-20 million VND after graduation.
This is a general job position in the IT industry, a position that plays an extremely important role in deploying and ensuring that the software system is always operated and functions smoothly at optimal cost.
In order for students to meet the requirements of businesses, this year the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology opened an additional application-oriented Information Technology program with a quota of 180 at the Hanoi campus (enrollment code 7480201_UDU). The program consists of 121 credits, with the continuous participation of businesses. Students can participate in real projects at large IT enterprises and corporations. In addition to a university degree, students also have international standard certificates (CCNA, TOEIC, AWS...). Training time is shortened to 3.5 to 4 years.
