According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will have a friendly match with the Syrian team at 7:30 p.m. on June 20 at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh). To prepare for this match, coach Philippe Troussier has finalized the list of 30 players. Accordingly, the French coach kept 21 out of 23 players on the list registered for the match against Hong Kong (China), and at the same time selected 6 additional players from the Vietnamese team and 3 players from the U23 Vietnam team.

Specifically, 6 players from the Vietnam national team were selected to be added, including: Tran Minh Toan, Vu Van Thanh, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Van Toan, Nham Manh Dung. Three players from the U23 Vietnam squad were given the opportunity to join the national team: goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Duc Phu. Thus, there are 7 U23 Vietnam players called up by coach Philippe Troussier to join the Vietnam national team.

On June 18, the group of players from the Vietnam national team and Vietnam U23 team who were not on the list to prepare for the match with the Syrian team were returned to their clubs, ending the training session in June 2023. Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team will have a training session on the afternoon of June 18 at Thien Truong Stadium.
