On January 13, Da Nang police extradited 193 people from Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong to Da Nang to investigate the act of loan sharking.
Police identified Wang YunTao (36 years old, Chinese nationality) as the suspected ringleader.
Wang YunTao and several Chinese suspects hired people to set up dozens of companies as fronts for loan sharking activities.

Previously, in November 2023, Da Nang police discovered a number of people borrowing money through applications (apps) with interest rates of up to over 500%/year. Borrowers who do not pay interest on time will be threatened and terrorized by photos, text messages, and phone calls.

Through investigation, Da Nang police discovered a large-scale network operating in many localities, so they reported to the Ministry of Public Security and were directed to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department to solve the case.
On January 11, the Ministry of Public Security mobilized 250 officers and soldiers from many units to simultaneously raid 9 locations in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong and arrested Wang YunTao and related people.
Authorities also seized 247 computers, 177 mobile phones, and frozen tens of billions of dong in bank accounts along with many other exhibits.
The case is under further investigation.
