(HNMO) - After 3 exciting days in An Giang province, on the evening of June 4, the first phase of the National Music Festival - 2023 ended with the award ceremony and performances of outstanding works.
Taking place from June 2 to 4, the first phase of the National Music Festival - 2023, organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association in coordination with the People's Committee of An Giang province, aims to honor creative talents in the field of music arts, encourage creativity, and excel in the fields of composition, performance, music theory and criticism, and music training; for musicians and artists across the country to meet, exchange professional experiences, exchange newly composed musical works, and introduce regional cultural identities.
The festival attracted more than 200 musicians and artists from 23 provincial and municipal branches. The units brought 57 new musical works, including 56 songs and 1 chamber piece (string quartet).
Evaluating the participating works, Meritorious Artist, Musician Tran Vuong Thach, Chairman of the Judging Council, said that this festival has more positive changes in terms of expertise compared to previous times. The composition themes are richer, especially those close to life and society, such as compositions about the sea and islands of the homeland... There are some performances that are elaborately staged with illustrated dances and beautiful images.
However, according to musician Tran Vuong Thach, the themes of his compositions have not yet covered today's real life. The main form of composition is still songs, with very few other forms. The content of the works and the steps of melody and harmony are sometimes forced; the musical materials and structure of the works are still limited...
