(Fatherland) - The Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts is one of five collectives honored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the 2023 National Conference on Commending Typical and Advanced Models in the Cultural Field.
The Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was established in 1971, as a leading strategic research and policy consulting unit in Vietnam in the fields of culture, arts and tourism.
In recent years, the Institute has proactively and actively implemented effectively research activities, postgraduate training as well as many other work plans in a synchronous and comprehensive manner to ensure quality, serving the general requirements of the whole industry as well as the specific requirements of the Institute.
Regarding scientific work, in the past 3 years (2020 - 2022), although the COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely complicated around the world and throughout Vietnam, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts has proactively adapted to the new situation, promptly adjusted professional activities, urgently and synchronously implemented research tasks to build scientific arguments for strategic consulting, build mechanisms, policies, and state management assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Among them are tasks that have a profound impact on the development of the country's culture and society.
Consultation workshop on the Strategic Project for the Development of Vietnam's Cultural Industries to 2030, with a vision to 2045, organized by the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts in coordination with other units.
Regarding strategy and policy consulting, the Institute conducts research to build and deploy the Cultural Development Strategy to 2030; Researches the following areas: developing cultural industries; developing plans for the development of a network of cultural, physical education and sports facilities; evaluating the results of implementing the Party's Resolutions and State policies in practice; consulting on the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.
Regarding scientific research tasks, in the 3 years of 2020-2022, the Institute will carry out 1 national-level S&T task, 16 ministerial-level S&T tasks, 17 regular tasks according to functions, 13 projects under the "National Target Program on Culture" (2020), 1 task to enhance S&T potential (2021-2022), and topics and projects in conjunction with units and localities...
From 2020 to 2022, the Institute has coordinated with domestic and foreign units to successfully organize many international and domestic conferences. The organization of conferences and scientific seminars by the Institute in recent years in ministries, branches and localities nationwide and abroad has brought about humanistic, political, cultural - economic - cultural values of the industry and the country. This is extremely important, not only serving the work of theoretical and cultural research but also contributing scientific arguments, advising the leaders of the Ministry, advising the Party and the State to promptly supplement and amend program orientations, plans, and build policies and mechanisms in state management of the fields of culture, arts, family, tourism and sports.
Thereby, it contributes significantly to preserving and developing Vietnamese culture in accordance with the strategy of developing and protecting the country in each revolutionary stage, the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration of our country in the new situation.
Over the years, the Journal of Cultural Studies has been published regularly every 2 months and has been highly appreciated by the State Council of Professors. The Institute has published many valuable books: Preserving and promoting the art of Xam singing in contemporary society; Research on Central culture in 2021; Special topic on Quang Nam cultural heritage; Approaching Hue culinary culture; Southern and Southern Central Highlands Culture and Arts...
Regarding training and fostering, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts is a doctoral training institution with extensive experience of 32 years of doctoral training in 5 majors, including a lot of experience in training graduate students from countries in the region and around the world. The Institute also receives a number of graduate students and interns from France, Italy, the United States, Germany, China and Laos to study and research at the Institute.
Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies holds the 2023 PhD award ceremony.
Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts successfully organized the following knowledge training courses: "Developing cultural industry in Vietnam" in 2020, 2021, 2022; "Media culture" knowledge training course in 2021, 2022; "Cultural management" knowledge training course in 2022.
Regarding international cooperation: as the leading national research institute in the field of culture and arts, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts always attaches importance to international cooperation to improve professional capacity and broaden the vision of scientific staff, attract resources, intelligence and material to help the Institute develop and promote the image of the Institute in countries in the region and internationally.
During the period of 2020-2022, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies has coordinated with domestic and foreign partners to successfully organize and implement many programs, seminars, workshops, and projects, such as: British Council (Vietnam Cultural and Creative Spaces, Exchange Program between creative spaces in the UK and Southeast Asia, Connecting Heritage project series), ICHCAP (ichLinks Project: Building an integrated platform to share information on intangible cultural heritage in the Asia-Pacific region), UNESCO (Vietnam Festival of Creativity and Design Project in 2020, 2021 and 2022; Project to Establish a New Sustainable Mechanism for Collecting Research Data on PVT Cultural Heritage in Vietnam in cooperation with the International Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI); UNESCO's Pilot Project on Cultural Index in cooperation with UNESCO in Vietnam…
In addition, during this period, the Institute also held meetings and discussed future work as well as implemented art programs with the Embassies (Italy, Germany, Colombia) in Vietnam, and with the French Institute. In terms of training and education, the Institute also invited foreign experts to teach the Institute's graduate students and researchers, and organized a training course for Lao researchers in Vietnam.
In 2020, the Institute sent 4 working groups abroad and received 4 foreign researchers/experts to Vietnam to conduct research and implement projects. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, there were no working groups in 2021. However, after the epidemic situation stabilized, in 2022, the number of working groups increased: 12 working groups went abroad, and received 5 cases of researchers/experts to Vietnam to conduct research.
It can be said that, promoting the glorious tradition over the past 50 years, the Institute's leadership team through the periods, together with the Party Committee, Trade Union and all employees, have constantly strived, studied and trained to overcome many difficulties and obstacles to build together a united, strong and comprehensive team, always excellently completing many important tasks, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, the State and the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Being recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a typical and advanced collective is a strong source of encouragement for the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts to constantly strive to improve and successfully complete assigned tasks in the face of new requirements and contexts./.
