On the morning of January 20, many people, comrades, and relatives came to see off Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung (born in 1983, Deputy Chief of Thuy Van Ward Police, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province) to his final resting place.
According to the leader of Hue City Police, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung was born into a family with a revolutionary tradition. His father was a former police officer and was awarded the Third Class Medal of Resistance War against America and the First Class Medal of Military Exploit by the President while serving in the police force. His mother was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister for her contributions in the resistance war against America.
Graduated from the University of Law (Hue University), but with the family tradition and the dream of continuing his father's work, after graduating, Mr. Tran Duy Hung applied for recruitment into the police force and was assigned to many units.
After many years of dedication to the force, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung is considered to have extensive experience in crime prevention, directly confronting all kinds of criminal and drug crimes... He has fought and handled many notorious, reckless, and daring subjects.
Typically, on December 25, 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung quickly investigated and clarified the subject Chau Van L. (residing in An Tay ward, Hue city) broke into a resident's house and stole 6 baskets of orchids. On July 1, 2020, he and his teammates investigated and arrested the subject who entered the house of a resident in An Tay ward, broke the door, turned off the security camera, and stole 2 iPhones...
Transferred to work at Thuy Van Ward Police in November 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung directly coordinated with functional units to clarify and arrest Tran Dai Tuong Ng. (born in 1986; residing in Phu Thuong Ward, Hue City) when he broke into Da Le Church to steal things.
Most recently, on the evening of January 12, after receiving information that Nguyen Tan Sang (born in 1999, residing in Thuy Van ward) had blocked traffic on Le Duc Anh street, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung and the ward police force quickly went to the scene to handle the situation.
At the scene, the Deputy Chief of Thuy Van Ward Police and his teammates persuaded and asked Sang to go home to avoid endangering people.
However, with the aggressive attitude of a criminal, Sang ran home with a Thai knife, returned to the scene and stabbed Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung many times, seriously injuring him and causing him to die.
Immediately after the incident, the Investigation Police Agency of Thua Thien Hue Province initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Nguyen Tan Sang to investigate the murder.
At the funeral this morning, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoang - Head of Hue City Police affirmed that the heroic sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung is a great loss for his family, the police force, and the local people.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung passed away at a young age, leaving behind an elderly mother, a wife without a stable job and a young child. In response to the brave sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung, Hue City Police will advise and propose policies and regimes for the people's police officer who died while on duty.
