The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit) reported on August 27 that durian exports in the first 7 months of the year reached 1.6 billion USD, an increase of nearly 50% over the same period in 2023. It is forecasted that in 2024, exports of this fruit could reach 3-3.5 billion USD.
In terms of market, China still leads with 92%; Thailand ranks second, with nearly 4.1% market share. Notably, the Cambodian market has an incredible growth rate, up to 186 times compared to the same period last year, reaching a value of 2.53 million USD, ranking 9th.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of Vinafruit, said that Cambodia has many foreign tourists, including Chinese tourists, so there is a high demand for durian consumption, while domestic supply is not much, so they increase imports from Vietnam.
