Xuan Son was operated on during the golden hour
Sharing with the media on the afternoon of January 6, Dr. Tran Trung Dung - who performed the surgery for Xuan Son on the evening of January 6 said: " Fortunately, before the surgery, the consultations and quick preparations helped Son to have surgery within the golden hour, within 24 hours of the injury. If the intervention is late, the swelling due to the injury will increase, the skin on the leg will blister, and after surgery, it will heal poorly and be poorly nourished. Surgery within the first 24 hours when the swelling is not much, so it is easy to fix the bone. If everything goes well, Son can return to competition in about 9 months."

On the afternoon of January 7, the doctor re-examined player Xuan Son. His current condition is very positive: no more pain, light mobility and active recovery.
Dr. Dung shared: "The opportunity for Xuan Son to return to top sports is completely possible. In terms of treatment techniques, there is nothing too complicated. However, surgery only accounts for 10% of the process, while 90% of recovery depends on the work behind it. Specifically, the multidisciplinary coordination at Vinmec is an important factor in helping Xuan Son return to his peak form. Each stage of his recovery will be closely monitored by the sports medicine team here, from controlling nutrition and weight to specialized recovery exercises for each stage."
Dr. Dung added: "For injuries related to joints and ligaments, recovery can sometimes depend on luck. However, in the case of Xuan Son's fracture, as long as the bone heals well and recovers properly, the ability to return to 100% form is completely possible."
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed that VFF will support Xuan Son to the maximum.
During the second leg of the AFF Cup final between Thailand and Vietnam on the evening of January 5, player Nguyen Xuan Son suffered a serious injury and was taken to the hospital by ambulance by the on-field medical team.
At the hospital, Nguyen Xuan Son received first aid, had an X-ray to confirm the diagnosis and was kept under observation at the hospital.
The next day (January 6), the Thai match organizers supported an ambulance to take Nguyen Xuan Son to Bangkok airport, to board the flight with the entire team back to Vietnam. Immediately after returning to Vietnam, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) coordinated with Vinmec International General Hospital to arrange an ambulance to the plane to pick up and take Xuan Son to the hospital.
On the same day, the surgery to treat Nguyen Xuan Son's injury was successfully performed at Vinmec International General Hospital.
The entire cost of Xuan Son's treatment in Vietnam will be covered by VFF to ensure the best conditions for Nguyen Xuan Son to soon return to training and competition.
