(CLO) Ha Tinh Provincial Police have just fined a TikTok account owner VND7.5 million for making discriminatory comments about locality in a debate about administrative unit arrangement.
On the afternoon of March 8, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Ha Tinh Provincial Police, issued a decision to administratively fine TDT (residing in Van Yen Ward, Ha Tinh City) 7.5 million VND for making rude comments and discriminating against locality on the social network TikTok.

Previously, on March 6, TDT commented on a post by TikTok account “Hieu Vu Trung” regarding the policy of rearranging provincial administrative units. The post attracted many controversial opinions, including comments comparing the development and socio-economic conditions between localities.
During the debate, TDT posted some comments with vulgar content and regional discrimination, causing public outrage.
Based on the level of violation, the competent authority determines that TDT's behavior violates the provisions of Point a, Clause 1, Article 101 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government. This is a regulation on administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology, network information security and electronic transactions.
The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Ha Tinh Provincial Police, has decided to fine TDT 7.5 million VND and reminded this citizen of his responsibilities when participating in activities on the internet.
The incident is a warning to individuals who take advantage of social networks to post negative content, causing division and affecting social order.
