A fanpage with 141,000 followers on October 26 posted a number of photos and video clips said to be the kitchen of Phu Huu Primary School, Phu Huu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City... According to the content of the article and clip accusing this kitchen, the parents who visited the school kitchen had informed about this visit in advance, "but were shocked to realize that with all kinds of food stored in the refrigerator waiting to be processed, in the freezer there were many meat foods, some spoiled foods were put together".

Also according to the clip and article above, inside this kitchen there are many types of spices, many cans of chili sauce of unknown origin, along with black soy sauce, unknown date, unknown brand...

On the morning of October 27, answering reporters of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, said that the Department of Education and Training had received feedback from parents and had immediately handled the matter. Currently, the Department of Education and Training is directing further review and inspection. "The People's Committee of Thu Duc City has a plan to inspect food safety at schools. If the quality is not up to standard, the units must immediately stop signing contracts," said Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen.

The Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City also said that the People's Committee of Thu Duc City has issued Official Dispatch No. 555 on the plan to inspect compliance with the law in the field of food safety for collective kitchens, canteens, and food services in schools in Thu Duc City throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

The subjects of inspection are: Collective kitchens, canteens, and food services in schools in Thu Duc City; establishments providing meals in schools; establishments producing, processing, and trading raw materials, additives, packaging, etc. used in the food processing process in collective kitchens in the area; establishments that do not ensure food safety as posted in the mass media today; establishments with complaints and feedback about food safety, etc.

During the inspection, the inspection team will review the business registration certificate; food safety certificate (for establishments that are required to have a food safety certificate); test the water used in processing; check the sales contract, purchase invoices, product declaration/self-declaration records, documents related to raw materials, food, food additives; sample storage; 3-step food inspection implementation book; legal documents and other contents as required by the members participating in the inspection team...

At the same time, according to the official dispatch of Thu Duc City People's Committee, during the inspection process, the inspection team will take samples of products that pose a risk of causing food safety hazards, and send food samples for testing at designated testing centers...

Other primary schools in the area have contacted authorities for verification.

Before the news about the clip accusing the on-site kitchen at Phu Huu Primary School, on October 26, the Principal of TT Primary School, Thu Duc City also sent a notice to all parents.

The notice reads: "There is currently a clip posted online about the unit using spoiled food to cook for students from the on-site kitchen of Phu Huu Primary School. This is also the unit that provides meals for the school. I have contacted the authorities and the manufacturer to understand the situation. According to the response of the authorities, we are conducting an inspection and verification."

According to the information from the catering unit, they never feed students chicken skin, and have stopped feeding sausages for 2 weeks. There is no chicken or sausage on the menu, and it is confirmed that students do not eat...

The school also said that it monitored the kitchen and daily meals, and had not found any violations, and that this unit had been a stable food supplier for the school for many years. During this time, the school will also strengthen its supervision of student meals. Parents are expected to wait for the conclusion of the competent authority. If the food supplier is irresponsible, it cannot be covered up....

This afternoon, October 27, speaking with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Mr. Phan Thanh Phai, Principal of Phu Huu Primary School, Phu Huu Ward, Thu Duc City, affirmed: “The clip and article on social media saying that these are images in the kitchen of Phu Huu Primary School, Phu Huu Ward are incorrect, because my school does not have a kitchen. These are images filmed by parents at the school's food supplier. On October 25, 2023, a parent representative accompanied the school's inspection team to inspect the school's food supplier. After everyone finished checking, this parent stayed in the kitchen and told the staff here to open the freezers to check the frozen food inside and film these images.”

Regarding the company providing meals for the above school, Mr. Phai said it is a company located in Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
