Many people lined up to enjoy Australian chicken pho on the evening of May 11.
Taste of Australia is an annual celebration of international quality food and beverage, hosted by the Australian Government in Vietnam.
This year’s event is the first time Taste of Australia has opened to the public at Le Van Tam Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), giving everyone the opportunity to experience fine food and drinks along with unique Australian cultural programs.
"Taste of Australia is a thread connecting the people of the two countries through cultural and business exchanges, demonstrating the close and intimate relationship between Vietnam and Australia.
Besides cuisine, art performances by Vietnamese students from Australian international schools in the city will bring excitement to the exchange between two cultures," Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized at the opening ceremony.
Returning to Vietnam from Australia to be the program's ambassador, Tommy Pham - a famous Vietnamese man at MasterChef Australia - shared his joy when Australian ingredients were used to cook Vietnamese dishes, especially chicken pho.
Along with her friend, a Myanmar international student, Phuong Thao (student at Western Sydney University) said:
"We were surprised to be immersed in the Australian cultural atmosphere as well as experience the food. My friend said we had a great weekend."
