Consider suspending AISVN International School operations after June 15

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has a plan to suspend the operation of AISVN International School.

Regarding the fact that AISVN International School no longer has the financial capacity to maintain its operations in the recent past, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, provided the latest information at the regular socio -economic press conference of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the afternoon of May 31.

Based on 2 conditions

According to Mr. Minh, the interdisciplinary working group, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City had a meeting with the investor of AISVN International School and decided that after June 15, the Department will review the operating conditions of this school. If it does not meet the conditions according to Decree 46 of the Government , the school's operations will be suspended.

Specifically, the suspension ofeducational activities of AISVN International School will be based on the fact that this school does not ensure 2 conditions for being allowed to operate educational activities as prescribed in Clauses 5 and 6, Article 27 of Decree No. 46: Having a team of teachers and managers sufficient in number according to the structure of teacher types, ensuring the implementation of educational programs and organization of educational activities; having sufficient financial resources as prescribed to ensure the maintenance and development of educational activities.

It is expected that the decision to suspend the educational activities of AISVN International School will be effective for a period of 12 months. To facilitate investors and ensure the rights of students, during the suspension period, if the school overcomes the cause of the suspension, it will seek opinions to issue a decision allowing the school to resume educational activities.

Measures to ensure the rights of students and teachers

The interdisciplinary team also proposed a plan requiring investors, school boards and state education management agencies to take measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of students, teachers, managers and employees.

Specifically, investors must complete restructuring; resolve the rights of parents; resolve the rights of employees (teachers, managers and staff) according to the labor contract agreed upon in accordance with the law; resolve tax debts, social insurance, health insurance... In addition, the School Board and the school must resolve the legal rights and interests of students; complete the apparatus and personnel organization.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training prepares a list of educational departments with curriculums suitable for students' ages and levels, and organizes school transfers for students.

Previously, on April 15, AISVN International School informed about 1,200 parents that the 2023-2024 school year would end on April 26, while grade 12 students in the IB program would study until May 17. The reason the school ended the school year and students had summer vacation early was because of a lack of teachers and insufficient finances to operate.

It is known that since the beginning of April, representatives of the Department of Education and Training have participated in reviewing and supervising the implementation of salary, social insurance, health insurance for teachers, teaching assistants, foreign staff, Vietnamese people working at the school, housing for foreign teachers and expenses for educational activities in February and March.

The Department of Education and Training has held many working sessions with the Board of Directors of AIS International Education Joint Stock Company on the restructuring of the unit. At the same time, the Department of Education and Training has directed specialized departments to closely monitor the organization of educational activities of AISVN International School, ensuring the completion of the school year plan with the right quality, and not allowing students to interrupt their studies before the end of the school year.
