For the first time, the Vietnamese team has the opportunity to compete for a medal at the ASIAD. The match between the Vietnamese team and Thailand will take place at 1:30 p.m. today, October 7. No television station in Vietnam has the copyright to broadcast the sports of the 19th ASIAD.

The Vietnamese team competed in the ASIAD medal match for the first time.
The Vietnamese women's team exceeded their target by reaching the semi-finals of the 19th ASIAD. This is the best achievement of Vietnamese volleyball at the tournament, and also affirms the team's position after finishing fourth in the Asian championship.
However, the gap from fourth to third is not easy to overcome. Compared to Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team is still clearly inferior. In the last 5 matches, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates lost all, only won 2 games and could not drag their opponents to game 5.
The Thai team's strength in ASIAD 19 and the Asian Championship has not changed. They still use the strongest squad and will create a difficult challenge for the Vietnamese team.
However, it should be emphasized that although Thailand's women's volleyball team is very strong, it is not yet at the same level as China and Japan. The chance for Thanh Thuy and her teammates to create a surprise is not zero.
The Vietnamese team needs to perform at least as well as the first three rounds against Japan. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's players will play with focus, improve their backline defense, and limit the number of missed shots due to technical errors.
On the other hand, to win against a stronger opponent, the Vietnamese team may have to drag the match to set 5. Maintaining physical strength is also a difficult problem for Thanh Thuy and her teammates as they showed signs of rapid fatigue in set 4 of the last 2 matches.
