About 10km from the city center, Duong Son flower village (Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district) is the oldest and largest flower growing place in Da Nang, providing Tet flowers for this city and neighboring provinces.
The flower village has 19 households growing flowers on an area of about 4.5 hectares. Of which, chrysanthemums are the main flower. Large pots of chrysanthemums symbolize prosperity, so many families in the Central region love to grow flowers on Tet holiday, planted in long rows, creating a brilliant countryside painting.
This is also the time when the flower garden is bustling with traders coming to order and receive goods.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Dinh (71 years old) said that this year the weather was also erratic, causing the flowers to not grow as expected. In his garden alone, nearly 500 small marigold pots were damaged. As for the large marigold pots, the flowers that had bloomed were ordered and transported by traders in the past few days.
Mr. Dinh assessed that although there are difficulties, the flower consumption situation this year is less precarious than in 2022.
According to Dan Tri reporters, from early morning, traders and farmers urgently carried flowers onto trucks to transport for sale.
Growing nearly 1,000 pots of crystal chrysanthemums, in recent days, Mr. Dang (living in Hoa Chau commune) has been continuously loading the flowers onto traders' vehicles for transport. Mr. Dang said that the transport vehicles are hired by traders, and the flower porters are hired by gardeners.
"Porters are usually freelance workers or idle farmers here. They are paid 300,000-400,000 VND/person, depending on their health and the level of work," Dang shared.
The road to the flower village, big trucks, small trucks running everywhere.
From Dien Ban (Quang Nam) to Duong Son flower village to buy chrysanthemums to sell, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu (63 years old) said she hired a truck to transport flowers for 200,000 VND/trip.
Because Mrs. Lieu's rented car is medium sized, it can carry 12 pots at a time. On average, she spends about 1 million VND per day transporting flowers to the point of sale.
Another grower said that this year, most of the flowers bloomed in time for Tet and were quite beautiful. The gardeners have already received more than 50% orders from traders. His garden alone has nearly 1,000 pots, with more than 200 pots remaining, expected to be shipped by traders on February 1.
Along with chrysanthemums, flower growers also have many other types of flowers intercropped such as azaleas, hanging flowers, roses... This year these types of flowers are popular with many people.
