According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Phu - Deputy Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, the province has now built and completed the project to submit to the Government, including many synchronous solutions to seek opinions from the Central Government and related ministries and branches.
Previously, Lang Son province (Vietnam) and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) agreed to jointly promote the pilot construction of a smart border gate on the dedicated freight transport route of Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan border gate.
The smart border gate will use unmanned container transport vehicles, automatic cranes, smart map inspection systems and can complete cross-border logistics information exchange between the two countries. In addition, goods will be automatically unmanned 24 hours a day.
The project is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of December 2024.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Phu, after the smart border gate system is put into use, it will help customs clearance capacity and import-export turnover increase 2-3 times compared to present by 2027 and increase 4-5 times by 2030.
In addition, the smart border gate will reduce 30-40% of wharfage and customs clearance costs at both border gate areas, Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh.
In particular, the border gate will promote the transformation of production and export methods of enterprises towards official and professional channels; minimizing economic risks for Vietnamese enterprises when trading in the current form.
Besides building smart border gates, Lang Son province also continues to improve infrastructure in the border gate area.
Lang Son Provincial People's Committee said that the total import-export turnover of goods through the province increased sharply compared to 2022, estimated at 4,780 million USD, reaching 125.8% of the plan, up 56.2%.
