WVI spends more than 48.2 billion VND to ensure sustainable welfare for children in Thuong Xuan (Thanh Hoa)

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 3724/QD-UBND dated September 16, 2024 on adjusting the aid of more than 48.2 billion VND to implement the "Thuong Xuan District Regional Program" sponsored by World Vision International in Vietnam (WVI) to ensure sustainable child welfare in target communes, especially vulnerable children in 6 communes and towns of this district.

According to Decision No. 3724/QD-UBND, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee approved the adjustment of the aid to implement the "Thuong Xuan District Program" sponsored by World Vision International in Vietnam with the following 3 contents:

The regional program aims to improve sustainable welfare for poor and vulnerable children in 6 communes and towns in Thuong Xuan district - (Photo: Viet Anh/baotainguyenmoitruong.vn).

First adjustment content: The aid provider specified in Clause 4, Article 1 of Decision No. 552/QD-UBND dated February 17, 2023 is adjusted to: "World Vision International Organization in Vietnam.

Second adjustment content: The Program implementation period specified in Clause 8, Article 1 of Decision No. 552/QD-UBND dated February 17, 2023 is adjusted to: "The Program implementation period shall not exceed September 30, 2027 according to the aid commitment period of World Vision International in Vietnam.

Third adjustment content: The total capital of the Program stipulated in Clause 9, Article 1 of Decision No. 552/QD-UBND dated February 17, 2023 is adjusted to: "The total capital of the Program is more than 48.2 billion VND, equivalent to 2,166,000 USD. Of which, the aid capital from World Vision International in Vietnam is 2,166,000 USD, accounting for 100% of the total capital of the Program.

The Thuong Xuan District Regional Program is associated with the goal of ensuring sustainable child welfare in target communes, especially vulnerable children. The Program is implemented in the following communes and towns: Thuong Xuan Town, Luong Son, Tho Thanh, Xuan Cao, Luan Thanh and Luan Khe.

Specifically, the Program targets 4 projects, including: Nutrition and health project: Reducing infection and disease rates in children under 5 years old; Child protection and participation project: Girls and boys are protected from all forms of violence and are involved in decision-making; Livelihood project: Households with sustainable income contribute to children's well-being; Community participation and child protection project: Building a community where children are trusted and cared for.

Through the WVI Regional Program, it contributes to improving access and quality of education for children, reducing malnutrition in children under 5 years old. Integrating support activities into the poverty reduction program in the project area, such as the model of supporting breeding animals and livestock for poor households.

In addition, the Program also helps to enhance the capacity of the community to improve child welfare and manage disaster and natural disaster risks. Thereby, operating community development effectively, bringing many practical benefits to the people, helping to solve the needs of households, especially children.
