Tang Ying (33 years old, living in Sichuan, China) caused a stir on social media in this country when she shared that she had just left 600 chat groups related to her work at her old company. This process took more than 3 and a half hours to complete.
“After I quit my job, I felt much more comfortable,” Tang said.

The post has been viewed more than 160 million times on social media, with many users saying it was not the act of someone resigning, but rather a way to regain freedom for the girl.
According to Tang Ying, she is a blueprint designer for stores in shopping malls. Each mall Tang works at has hundreds of stores. Each store has a chat group for departments to review blueprints together. Therefore, Tang has "accumulated" 600 chat groups related to work.
With this position, Tang can earn 20,000-30,000 NDT/month (about 70-100 million VND). However, the trade-offs of the job for Tang are much more than that.
"Even when I'm eating hot pot or going out, I still have to bring my computer with me and focus on checking notifications on my phone at all times," she said.
Every day, Tang was terrified by the constant stream of messages from 600 group chats. Although she tried to ignore the unimportant notifications, she couldn’t avoid the colleagues who mentioned her in the group chat every day.
"I have to reply to messages every day, my nerves are very tense. I dare not turn off my phone, and I cannot help but look at messages from groups for fear of missing important information, affecting the store opening. But every day that passes, I feel like I am a machine, unable to have my own thoughts and feelings," Tang confided.
After quitting her job, Tang said she felt comfortable and relieved. She could eat hot pot and go out without fear of being bothered anymore.
Tang also returned to her hometown, a village 30km from Nam Sung City, to live with her grandparents, and then opened a sausage and ham shop. With the support of her family, she was able to set up a small processing facility in her grandparents’ backyard and planned to develop it into her own brand.
