According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to information from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning, China, on May 22, Chinese authorities announced that two more victims with Vietnamese documents died in the accident, bringing the total number of Vietnamese victims to 13, of which 11 were killed and 2 were injured.

Immediately after receiving the above information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly coordinated with domestic authorities to verify the identities of the victims, promptly notify the victims' families and relevant localities to promptly carry out necessary funeral procedures.

Previously, on May 21, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning visited two injured Vietnamese citizens. The two citizens are currently in stable health and wish to return home soon to reunite with their families.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning to continue to closely monitor the case, coordinate closely with local authorities and domestic agencies to guide and support the victims' families to promptly bring the bodies/remains of the victims back to Vietnam; and deploy necessary citizen protection work so that the two injured citizens can return home soon.
