In 2023, Krong Buk district will have about 3,600 hectares of durian (1,200 hectares of pure cultivation, the rest intercropped with coffee, pepper, etc.), of which 2,000 hectares are being harvested, with an output of 30,000 tons. The economic value of durian trees is from 1 - 1.4 billion VND/ha, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 800 million VND - 1 billion VND/ha.
The district has been granted 9 growing area codes by the Chinese Customs, with an area of over 147 hectares. Currently, the district has supported the registration of 62 growing area codes, with a total area of 1,357 hectares (733 participating households) for 18 companies associated with Cooperatives, Cooperative Groups, and durian growing households. In addition, the district has 1 code for a packaging facility to officially export durian to the Chinese market; 3 packaging facility codes have been registered, waiting for the Plant Protection Department and the General Administration of Customs of China to issue packaging facility codes.
In addition, in the district, there are 24 large-scale purchasing facilities that have built or rented warehouses to purchase durian and nearly 50 small-scale purchasing facilities, mainly through intermediaries, transporting to other localities.
Work to ensure production and consumption security in the 2023 durian crop has been tightened, minimizing damage to people.

Regarding the quality and safety of durian products, the People's Committee of Krong Buk district has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) of the district to coordinate with specialized units, consulting units, and People's Committees of communes and towns to guide people to grasp and apply food safety production processes that meet the requirements of VietGAP standards, as well as the Protocol.
Besides the advantages, the purchase of durian in the district has many fluctuations. From the beginning of the season, many traders rushed to set high prices in the gardens (1-2 months before harvest), leading to competition and price chaos. When the durian season started, prices decreased, causing many businesses to face difficulties, traders broke their contracts, etc.
At the conference, representatives of enterprises, purchasing establishments, cooperatives, cooperative groups, farmers, and specialized departments of the district made recommendations and discussed outstanding issues in the 2023 durian crop. Specifically: strengthening training on durian growing techniques; clearly planning the growing areas to avoid disrupting local agricultural planning; complying with the process of planting and caring for durian to ensure quality, contributing to building the Krong Buk durian brand; stabilizing and intensifying the existing durian area towards quality and sustainability...
