On February 17, a representative of NT sleeper bus company (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak) informed about the incident where the driver was accused of sexually harassing a female passenger while she was sleeping.
According to the NT bus company representative, the accused driver named B. (52 years old), after receiving the information online, although this driver had not yet returned to the headquarters, he still called to verify.
NT bus representative informed that through discussion, Mr. B. confirmed that he did not molest the passenger. Mr. B. also said that he was very tired from driving continuously during Tet holiday, so he slept in the aisle of the bus on the evening of February 16. Therefore, he may have been daydreaming while sleeping, and reached out to touch the female passenger, but he did not mean anything by it.
According to NT bus company's assessment, Mr. B. has worked at NT bus company for ten years but has not had any bad reputation.
Previously, Ms. Q. (21 years old, living in Buon Ma Thuot City) posted a clip on her personal Facebook page accusing driver B. of molesting her on the way from Dak Lak to Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Ms. Q., on the evening of February 16, she and her younger sister got on the NT bus to travel to Ho Chi Minh City. When the two sisters got into their seats, a male driver was lying in the aisle. This person then tried to chat and get to know each other, but Ms. Q. ignored him.
"At around 10:30 p.m., the driver put his hand under the blanket I was covering myself with and touched my body. I immediately pushed his hand away and got angry, but he still put his arms around me and tried to molest me. At that time, I shouted loudly to let everyone know," Ms. Q. was upset.
Ms. Q. asked the driver to apologize, but he only apologized to get it over with. Not accepting the apology, when the bus reached the rest stop in Binh Phuoc province, Ms. Q. got off and took another bus.
According to Ms. Q., when she and her sister got off the bus, the driver did not want to take the luggage from the trunk for the passengers. She then posted on social media to ask the bus company to sincerely apologize.
