Musician Luu Thien Huong was hit by a phone: Both sides admitted fault

Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music Nguyen My Hanh reported on the results of the handling of the case of musician Luu Thien Huong posting on Facebook accusing a lecturer of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music of throwing a phone at her.

On January 16, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's grassroots bloc held a conference to review Party building work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024. Comrade Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee attended.

Reporting at the lecturers' conference, musician Luu Thien Huong "accused a colleague of throwing a phone at him", Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music Nguyen My Hanh said that as soon as the information was received, the Conservatory organized urgent meetings.

Most recently, on the morning of January 16, the Conservatory of Music met with the two lecturers above and both admitted their mistakes to the school. Specifically, the lecturer, master, and Meritorious Artist VTMH admitted his mistake in affecting the image and reputation of the school and apologized to the school board. Musician Luu Thien Huong also admitted that he was hasty when posting the information on Facebook and has removed the post.

Ms. Nguyen My Hanh added that the school's Disciplinary Council will meet and consider disciplinary action against the above lecturer's substandard behavior. Accordingly, the school will consider disciplining lecturer VTMH and has also criticized and warned musician Luu Thien Huong.

Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue welcomed the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music for promptly and thoroughly handling the conflict between the two lecturers. He also noted that the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music as well as units under the Party Committee of the bloc must clearly educate individuals and groups in the pedagogical environment, people with influence on the public to be careful and legitimate when using social networks, avoiding spreading bad information on cyberspace.

As reported by SGGP, on January 10, at Concert Hall B of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, the Jazz-Pop-Rock and Music Technology Department held a semester exam for students. During the exam marking, lecturer VTMH (tenured lecturer) and musician Luu Thien Huong (visiting lecturer) had a conflict. The climax was when lecturer MH stood up and threw the phone at lecturer Luu Thien Huong.

On January 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music reported to the Department of Training and the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism about the handling of the petition of lecturer Luu Thien Huong accusing lecturer MH of rude, offensive and insulting behavior.
